Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct detailed visual and dimensional inspections of junctions, welds, and connection points using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to verify that manufactured junctions conform to all requirements.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as visual testing (VT), magnetic particle testing (MPT), and liquid penetrant testing (LPT) to identify surface and near-surface defects.
  • Document inspection results, non-conformance issues, and test data with meticulous accuracy in quality management systems (QMS) and inspection reports.
  • Generate and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any parts or assemblies that fail to meet quality standards, and collaborate with production teams to identify root causes.
  • Calibrate and maintain inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IM&TE) to ensure accuracy and reliability in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections on finished products to ensure they meet all quality criteria before shipment.
  • Monitor production processes and operations to ensure they are being carried out according to the established quality control plan and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot quality issues and contribute to the development of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Verify raw materials and incoming components against purchase order specifications and quality requirements before they are released to the production line.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing documentation, explaining inspection processes, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, especially when handling equipment and materials.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and the proper use of measurement tools.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of quality control procedures, work instructions, and inspection checklists to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor process stability and capability, and report on trends or shifts in performance.
  • Manage the quarantine area for non-conforming materials, ensuring proper identification, segregation, and disposition of rejected parts.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, such as certificates of conformance and material test reports, to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with customers or third-party inspectors during witness inspections, demonstrating compliance with specified requirements and addressing their concerns professionally.
  • Prepare comprehensive end-of-shift or end-of-project reports summarizing inspection activities, findings, and the overall quality status of production.
  • Evaluate and confirm the proper functioning of safety-critical junctions and assemblies to prevent potential failures and ensure end-user safety.
