Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely operate and maneuver a commercial junk removal truck, often up to 16 feet, through various urban, suburban, and rural environments, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
  • Physically lift, carry, and load a wide variety of items into the truck, ranging from furniture and appliances to construction debris and yard waste, often involving items weighing over 75 pounds.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with clients upon arrival, clearly explaining the service process and listening attentively to their specific removal needs and instructions.
  • Assess the volume and type of items to be removed on-site to provide transparent, accurate price estimates to clients before beginning any work.
  • Strategically and efficiently pack the truck to maximize space, ensure safe transport of items, and properly segregate materials for disposal, donation, or recycling.
  • Process customer payments on-site using mobile point-of-sale technology, ensuring all transactions are handled securely and accurately.
  • Provide an exceptional end-to-end customer experience, from the initial handshake to the final sweep-up, leaving the client's property cleaner than when you arrived.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a truck team partner to safely and efficiently complete jobs, ensuring a synchronized and supportive working environment.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the operations manager immediately.
  • Navigate routes efficiently using GPS and other routing software to ensure timely arrival at customer locations and disposal facilities.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for upselling additional services or generating future business through positive client interactions.
  • Adhere strictly to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safe lifting techniques to prevent injury to yourself, your team, and the public.
  • Educate customers on the company's commitment to environmental responsibility, explaining how items are sorted for donation and recycling to divert waste from landfills.
  • Handle challenging removal tasks that may require basic disassembly of furniture or equipment using hand and power tools.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the truck cab and box, ensuring it presents a professional image and is ready for the next job.
  • Accurately complete all required digital and paper-based logs, including job completion forms, daily route sheets, and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Act as a brand ambassador in the field, distributing marketing materials like flyers and business cards to potential customers in serviced neighborhoods.
  • Build positive rapport with clients to foster loyalty, encourage positive online reviews, and generate word-of-mouth referrals.
