Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Manage the entire jury summons lifecycle, including the generation, printing, and mailing of thousands of summonses and questionnaires in accordance with statutory timelines.
- Meticulously review, process, and respond to a high volume of juror questionnaires and correspondence, evaluating requests for excusals, deferrals, and disqualifications based on legal statutes and court policies.
- Initiate and manage the enforcement process for non-compliant individuals, including preparing and issuing "Order to Show Cause" or "Failure to Appear" notices.
- Serve as the primary public-facing representative for jury services, professionally handling a large volume of inquiries via a multi-line phone system, email, and in-person counter service.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain jury panels for upcoming civil and criminal trials, ensuring the correct number of qualified jurors are available for voir dire.
- Operate and maintain the integrity of the automated Jury Management System (JMS), ensuring all juror information, status updates, and communications are accurately recorded in real-time.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and data security protocols for sensitive juror information, including personal identifiers and private records.
- Assist in the facilitation of juror check-in and orientation, providing clear instructions and information to large groups of prospective jurors.
- Accurately calculate and process juror attendance payments, mileage reimbursements, and other related financial transactions, ensuring timely and correct compensation.
- Maintain comprehensive and auditable records of all jury proceedings, juror attendance, and enforcement actions for statistical reporting and legal review.
- Interpret and apply complex state and federal statutes, local court rules, and internal policies pertaining to jury selection, service, and exemption.
- Coordinate directly with judges' chambers, attorneys, and other court personnel to communicate jury panel status and address specific needs for trial.
- Manage and update the master jury wheel and qualified juror lists, incorporating data from various sources like voter registration and DMV records.
- Investigate and resolve complex juror issues, such as claims of identity theft, fraudulent excuses, or undeliverable summonses, requiring diligent research and follow-up.
