Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive, time-sensitive background investigations on prospective jurors using a wide array of public records databases, court records, and online resources.
  • Perform deep-dive social media and open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis on juror candidates across various platforms to identify publicly expressed opinions, affiliations, and potential biases.
  • Analyze and synthesize large volumes of data from juror questionnaires, public records, and online sources to create detailed, easy-to-understand juror profiles for the trial team.
  • Provide real-time research and analysis to attorneys in the courtroom during the voir dire process to inform questioning strategies and strike decisions.
  • Identify and flag potential "stealth jurors" or individuals who may have undisclosed biases or agendas that could negatively impact the case.
  • Prepare and present detailed written and oral reports summarizing key findings, including potential red flags, favorable characteristics, and leadership qualities for each potential juror.
  • Collaborate closely with trial attorneys and consultants to develop and refine the overall jury selection strategy based on evolving research and courtroom dynamics.
  • Monitor online discussions, news media, and social media for information related to the case or jurors both before and during the trial.
  • Utilize specialized investigative databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, Accurint, TLO, and other public record aggregators to uncover civil, criminal, and financial histories.
  • Scrutinize juror responses to supplemental juror questionnaires (SJQs) for inconsistencies, omissions, or indicators of bias.
  • Assist in the development of juror questionnaire content tailored to the specific issues and themes of a case.
  • Maintain a meticulous and highly organized digital case file of all research, findings, and reports for the entire jury panel.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality, ensuring all research methods comply with legal and jurisdictional rules.
  • Track and chart juror responses, non-verbal cues, and group dynamics within the courtroom to provide attorneys with a holistic view of the jury pool.
  • Conduct pre-trial research on community attitudes and demographics in the trial venue to help predict jury pool leanings.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of mock trials and focus groups, including the recruitment and analysis of mock jurors.
  • Correlate demographic information (age, occupation, location) with psychographic data (attitudes, values, lifestyles) to build predictive models for juror behavior.
  • Provide attorneys with strategic recommendations for cause challenges and the optimal use of peremptory strikes.
  • Continuously monitor jurors who have been seated on the jury for any improper conduct or exposure to outside information throughout the trial.
  • Research the professional and personal backgrounds of opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and key players involved in the litigation to provide a strategic advantage.
