Primary Functions

- Evaluate and process requests for excusals, postponements, and disqualifications from jury service based on established statutory guidelines, court rules, and internal policies.
- Maintain and update the automated Jury Management System (JMS) with juror information, status changes, attendance records, and other critical data points, ensuring database integrity.
- Generate and carefully proofread a variety of documents, reports, and correspondence, including juror lists, panel sheets, attendance reports, and failure-to-appear notices.
- Coordinate the logistics for jury selection days, including preparing check-in materials, organizing the assembly room, and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Greet and check in prospective jurors, provide orientation on the jury selection process, and answer questions to alleviate anxiety and ensure a positive and professional experience.
- Assist the Jury Planner in the random selection and assignment of jury panels to specific courtrooms and trials, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements for randomness.
- Accurately calculate and process juror attendance fees and mileage reimbursements, preparing payment vouchers and liaising with the finance department for timely disbursement.
