Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage, maintain, and update the master jury wheel and qualified jury wheel databases using the court's dedicated Jury Management System (JMS).
  • Process and evaluate thousands of confidential juror qualification questionnaires, determining juror eligibility based on statutory requirements and court policies.
  • Prepare and execute the mailing of summonses and other official juror correspondence, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for all petit and grand jury sessions.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the public regarding jury service, responding to a high volume of inquiries via telephone, email, and in-person visits with professionalism and empathy.
  • Review and process juror requests for excusals, postponements, or deferrals, applying established court guidelines and escalating complex cases to the Jury Administrator.
  • Coordinate the check-in and orientation process for jurors on their reporting day, providing clear instructions, answering questions, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Prepare and arrange jury panels for the voir dire process, ensuring random selection and providing necessary lists and documentation to the judge and attorneys.
  • Accurately record and track juror attendance, service duration, and status throughout the day and for the duration of a trial.
  • Process and calculate juror attendance fees, mileage reimbursement, and other allowances in accordance with statutory rates, ensuring prompt and accurate payment.
  • Maintain the absolute confidentiality and security of all juror personal information and records, both physical and electronic, in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Assist in the logistical management of sequestered juries, including coordinating accommodations, transportation, and meals as directed by the court.
  • Operate various types of office automation equipment, such as scanners, printers, and mail processing machines, for large-scale jury-related mailings.
  • Generate and prepare a variety of statistical reports on juror utilization, selection rates, and demographic composition for court administration and external agencies.
  • Provide direct administrative support to the Jury Administrator or Clerk of Court in all matters related to jury operations and long-term planning.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist with the regular updating and maintenance of the court's automated jury information telephone line and public-facing jury service website.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of the annual Jury Management Plan, providing data and operational feedback.
  • Maintain an inventory of and order necessary supplies for the jury assembly room and related operations, such as handbooks, forms, and refreshments.
  • Provide backup administrative and clerical support to other departments within the Clerk's Office during periods of high demand or staff absence.
  • Participate in internal reviews and audits of jury records and procedures to ensure continuous compliance and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Assist in training new court employees on the basic functions and importance of the jury administration process.

Experience Requirements
