Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for the public, professionally and courteously responding to a high volume of telephone, email, and in-person inquiries from prospective jurors regarding their summons, service obligations, and requests for postponement or excusal.
  • Meticulously process and review incoming juror qualification questionnaires, ensuring all information is accurate, complete, and entered into the Jury Management System (JMS) in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and execute the mailing of juror summons, failure-to-appear notices, and other official correspondence, ensuring compliance with all statutory timelines and procedures.
  • Assist in the check-in, orientation, and processing of petit and grand jury panels on the day of service, providing clear instructions and ensuring a positive and orderly experience.
  • Operate and maintain the court’s Jury Management System (JMS) to create jury panels, update juror statuses (e.g., qualified, deferred, excused), and generate statistical reports.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive juror information, court records, and sealed documents.
  • Collaborate closely with judges, court staff, and attorneys to coordinate jury needs for upcoming trials, ensuring panels are ready and available as required.
  • Perform complex data entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy, including inputting juror data from various source lists and updating records based on new information.
  • Verify juror attendance and process juror payroll, calculating and disbursing payments for service and mileage in accordance with established court and state guidelines.
  • Assist in the logistical management of jury panels, including escorting jurors to and from the courtroom and jury deliberation rooms while ensuring their security and sequestration.

  • Respond to and resolve a wide range of juror issues, such as requests for medical excusals, financial hardship claims, and scheduling conflicts, with empathy and professionalism.
  • Prepare and assemble juror materials, including orientation packets, handbooks, and informational brochures, to ensure jurors are well-informed.
  • Manage and sort incoming and outgoing mail related to jury services, routing documents to the appropriate personnel and taking necessary actions.
  • Conduct research on juror-related inquiries, utilizing court records, databases, and legal resources to provide accurate and complete answers.
  • Generate and distribute certificates of jury service to jurors upon the completion of their duty, serving as official documentation for their employers.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Master Juror Wheel, ensuring the integrity and randomness of the juror selection process as prescribed by law.
  • Provide direct support in the courtroom during the voir dire (jury selection) process, tracking strikes, and seating the final jury.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, copying, and faxing to maintain organized and accessible jury records.
  • Monitor and manage the jury assembly room, ensuring it is prepared and stocked with necessary supplies for jurors' comfort and needs.
  • Reconcile juror attendance records against judicial orders and prepare related statistical reports for court administration and state-level reporting.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis on juror demographics, yield rates, and attendance trends.
  • Contribute to the organization's process improvement initiatives by identifying and suggesting efficiencies in the jury management workflow.
  • Collaborate with court IT and administrative units to help test system upgrades or translate operational needs into technical requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and training sessions to stay current on court procedures, new technologies, and policies.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Data Entry Proficiency: High-speed and accurate typing skills (e.g., 40+ WPM) for rapid processing of juror information.
  • MS Office Suite: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for creating correspondence, tracking data, and managing communications.
  • Office Equipment Operation: Experience with multi-line phone systems, scanners, copiers, and other standard office machinery.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
