Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments of justice systems, including policing practices, court case processing, and correctional operations, to identify systemic inefficiencies and areas of inequity.
  • Design and lead the implementation of evidence-based strategies, policies, and programs aimed at reducing incarceration, addressing racial and ethnic disparities, and enhancing community safety.
  • Provide high-level technical assistance and strategic counsel to government leaders, judicial officers, and community partners on complex justice reform initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate multi-stakeholder collaborative meetings, strategic planning sessions, and working groups to build consensus and drive systemic change.

  • Lead and manage both qualitative and quantitative data collection efforts, including site visits, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and statistical analysis, to evaluate program effectiveness and measure impact.
  • Manage large-scale, multi-year consulting projects, including the development of detailed project work plans, budget oversight, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust professional relationships with a wide network of stakeholders, including law enforcement, judiciary members, public defenders, prosecutors, and community-based organizations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret relevant legislative and policy developments at the local, state, and federal levels to inform project strategy and client advising.
  • Lead and contribute to business development activities, including identifying new client opportunities, fostering client relationships, and writing compelling grant proposals and responses to RFPs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on specialized topics such as restorative justice, procedural justice, pretrial reform, behavioral health diversion, or reentry services.
  • Design and deliver customized training curricula and workshops for justice system professionals on topics like implicit bias, trauma-informed practices, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Guide justice agencies through strategic planning processes to help them define their mission, establish long-term goals, and develop key performance indicators.
  • Conduct sophisticated policy analysis and legal research on emerging issues within the criminal and civil justice landscape to support evidence-based reform.
