Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute opening and closing procedures reliably and securely, including alarm systems, door locking/unlocking protocols, storefront readiness checks, and shift handovers to guarantee store security and operational continuity.
- Manage cash handling and register reconciliation at the beginning and end of shifts: count tills, process bank deposits, reconcile POS reports, resolve variances, and maintain accurate cash logs according to company policy.

- Oversee in-store merchandising and planogram execution to maintain visual standards, implement promotional displays, perform regular floor moves, and ensure product presentation drives sales and reflects current campaigns.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts and stock audits; identify shrink, report discrepancies, perform corrective actions (recounts, adjustments), and support replenishment to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Monitor and enforce loss prevention and shrink reduction practices—spot check bags, verify returns, follow cash control procedures, and work with loss prevention policies to protect company assets.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently: process sales, returns, exchanges, promotions and gift card transactions while maintaining transaction accuracy and following payment security protocols.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly and ad hoc operational reports (sales, labor, stock, incidents) to the Store Manager or district team, ensuring timely and accurate information for decision-making.
- Support scheduling and labor management: coordinate shift coverage, approve time-off requests in the manager's absence, communicate schedule changes to staff, and ensure demands are balanced against sales and traffic forecasts.
- Receive, inspect, and process deliveries: verify shipment contents, organize backstock, tag new items, and communicate discrepancies to assist with inventory accuracy and display readiness.
- Train new hires on basic retail operations, store policies, customer service standards and safety procedures; track completion of essential trainings and provide positive onboarding experiences.
- Enforce health, safety and sanitation standards across the salesfloor, stockroom and break areas—perform safety walkthroughs, remove hazards, and report maintenance issues that could impact team or customer safety.
- Maintain accurate product knowledge and communicate features, promotions and warranties to customers; proactively upsell and cross-sell to maximize average transaction value.
- Execute merchandising resets and seasonal transitions on schedule, coordinating with the visual merchandising team to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and timely rollout of product launches.
- Handle basic administrative tasks such as petty cash transactions, end-of-day paperwork, incident reporting, and updating logbooks to keep store operations organized and compliant.
- Assist the Store Manager with payroll inputs, labor reconciliations and performance-related documentation when required, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of staff information.
- Act as a point of contact for contractors, vendors and outside service providers visiting the store—coordinate access, verify work completion and log deliveries or service notes.
- Respond to in-store incidents and emergencies (medical, safety, security), apply first-response procedures, notify emergency services when necessary, and document incidents according to company protocol.
- Maintain the sales floor and stockroom organization—rotate stock for shelf life, tag items correctly, perform price checks, and ensure a neat, customer-ready environment at all times.
- Support promotional setups, events and loyalty program enrollments by coordinating staffing needs, assisting with customer sign-ups and ensuring promotional materials are displayed and explained to customers.

- Assist the Store Manager and district leadership with ad-hoc operational projects, audits and improvement initiatives to enhance store performance and customer satisfaction.
- Support hiring activities by screening candidates, participating in interviews, and recommending new hires based on cultural fit and capability.

- Execute loss incident investigations in collaboration with loss prevention and provide detailed incident reports and witness statements when necessary.
