Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to understand the specifications for each cabinet assembly project.
Accurately assemble pre-cut and pre-machined cabinet components, including face frames, side panels, tops, bottoms, and backs, ensuring precise alignment and fit.
Operate a variety of hand tools, including drills, screw guns, nail guns, sanders, and staple guns, with a high degree of proficiency and safety.
Utilize pneumatic and power tools to fasten parts together, applying the correct fasteners and techniques to ensure structural integrity and a clean finish.
Install and adjust functional hardware, such as hinges, drawer slides, handles, pulls, and soft-close mechanisms, ensuring smooth and proper operation.
Perform quality control checks at various stages of the assembly process to identify defects, misalignments, or damage, and take corrective action as needed.
Verify dimensions and check the squareness of assembled cabinets using tape measures, squares, and other measurement tools to ensure they meet strict tolerance requirements.
Attach and fit doors, drawers, and fronts to cabinet boxes, making necessary adjustments to achieve even gaps and perfect alignment.
Prepare and clean components for assembly, which may include light sanding, removing debris, and inspecting for imperfections in the finish.

Manage a personal workstation, ensuring it is kept clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies to maintain workflow efficiency.
Read and understand production schedules to prioritize assembly tasks and ensure daily and weekly production targets are met.
Laminate surfaces and apply edge banding to cabinet components as required by the design specifications, using appropriate adhesives and machinery.
Handle and move raw materials and finished cabinets carefully to prevent scratches, dings, or other damage throughout the assembly and staging process.
Collaborate closely with team members in other departments, such as cutting and finishing, to ensure a seamless flow of materials and products.
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like safety glasses and gloves.
Report any tool or machine malfunctions to the shift supervisor immediately to prevent downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
Assist in the crating, packaging, and wrapping of finished cabinets to prepare them for safe transportation and delivery.
Apply labels, barcodes, and other identifying marks to cabinets and components to ensure accurate tracking throughout the production and shipping process.
Perform minor touch-ups and repairs on finished cabinets, using fillers, stains, and lacquers to correct any cosmetic blemishes.
Continuously monitor the quality of materials being used, such as wood panels and hardware, and report any sub-standard components to the quality control lead.

Secondary Functions

Assist in the periodic inventory counts of hardware, fasteners, and other assembly materials to ensure adequate stock levels.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Blueprint & Schematic Reading: Ability to read, interpret, and build from complex technical drawings and cut lists.
Power Tool Proficiency: Safe and skilled operation of pneumatic nail/staple guns, power drills, sanders, and routers.
Precision Measurement: Expert use of a tape measure, calipers, and framing squares to ensure accuracy to within 1/16th of an inch or less.
Hardware Installation: In-depth knowledge of installing and adjusting a wide variety of cabinet hardware, especially drawer slides and European hinges.
