Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Assist Senior Kitchen Designers throughout the entire design lifecycle, from initial client consultation and discovery to project completion and final client sign-off.
  • Create accurate and detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, floor plans, and elevations of kitchen layouts using industry-standard software like 2020 Design, AutoCAD, or Chief Architect.
  • Perform precise on-site field measurements of client spaces, meticulously documenting existing conditions including walls, windows, doors, plumbing, and electrical points.
  • Develop comprehensive project proposals and presentation packets, including detailed drawings, 3D perspectives, and a complete list of specified materials and finishes for client review.
  • Select and specify appropriate materials, finishes, appliances, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, and hardware that align with the design concept and the client's established budget.
  • Generate accurate and itemized quotes, pricing, and sales orders for all project components, ensuring financial transparency and alignment with client-approved budgets.
  • Serve as a reliable secondary point of contact for clients, providing timely project updates, answering questions, and resolving minor issues to ensure a smooth and positive customer experience.
  • Coordinate with a network of vendors and suppliers to check stock availability, confirm current pricing, request material samples, and diligently track orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Prepare and manage all critical project-related documentation, including client contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and comprehensive installation packets for trade partners.
  • Maintain the design showroom's appearance and organization, ensuring material samples are correctly filed, displays are current and pristine, and marketing literature is readily available.
  • Review and meticulously verify order acknowledgements from all suppliers for accuracy against the original purchase orders, proactively addressing any discrepancies to prevent project delays.
  • Participate actively in client meetings, taking detailed notes, managing sample presentations, and contributing to the collaborative design process under the guidance of the senior designer.
  • Help prepare comprehensive installation packets for the construction and installation teams, ensuring they have all final plans, specifications, appliance details, and special instructions.

Secondary Functions

  • Schedule client appointments, showroom visits, and on-site consultations for the senior design team, effectively managing and organizing their professional calendars.
  • Support the troubleshooting of design and installation challenges that may arise during a project, collaborating with installers and project managers to find swift and effective resolutions.
  • Maintain and diligently update the client relationship management (CRM) system with all project details, client communications, and key milestone status updates.
  • Participate in ongoing product knowledge training sessions with vendors to stay current on the latest industry trends, materials, and technological advancements in kitchen products.
  • Manage the material sample library, which includes ordering new samples, organizing the current inventory, and checking out materials to designers for client presentations.
  • Assist the lead designer in post-project follow-up activities, such as gathering client feedback, coordinating professional photography of the finished space, and compiling warranty information.
  • Contribute to the creation of marketing materials, including developing project portfolios and generating content for social media, to showcase completed designs and attract new clientele.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • CAD & Design Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of kitchen design software is essential, particularly 2020 Design, AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar platforms for creating detailed 2D/3D plans.
  • Technical Drawing & Space Planning: The ability to translate field measurements into accurate, functional, and aesthetically pleasing technical drawings and space plans.
  • Kitchen Product Knowledge: A solid understanding of kitchen cabinetry construction, countertop materials, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and electrical requirements.
