Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Meticulously prepare all wood surfaces for finishing, which includes detailed sanding, filling imperfections with wood putty, and ensuring surfaces are smooth and free of defects.
Operate and maintain a variety of spray finishing equipment, including HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) guns, pressure pots, and airless sprayers, ensuring consistent and high-quality application.
Precisely mix paints, stains, lacquers, and other coatings to exact color specifications, often requiring custom color matching to client samples or existing cabinetry.
Apply multiple layers of finishing products, such as sealers, primers, base coats, glazes, and clear topcoats, adhering to specified drying times and application techniques between coats.
Execute specialized finishing techniques, including distressing, antiquing, glazing, and rub-through effects, to create unique and custom appearances as per design requirements.
Perform final quality control inspections on all finished pieces, identifying and correcting any runs, sags, blemishes, or inconsistencies in color or sheen before they leave the department.
Carefully sand between coats of sealer and topcoat (scuff sanding) to ensure proper adhesion and achieve a flawlessly smooth final surface.
Manage the inventory of all finishing supplies, including stains, paints, solvents, sandpaper, and safety equipment, and communicate reordering needs to the department lead or purchasing manager.
