Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct in-depth, personalized client consultations to deeply understand their lifestyle, culinary habits, aesthetic preferences, functional needs, and budget constraints for their kitchen project.
  • Develop highly creative and functional kitchen design concepts, meticulously planning layouts, cabinetry solutions, countertop selections, appliance integration, lighting schemes, and material finishes.
  • Create highly-detailed and accurate 2D technical drawings, 3D photorealistic renderings, and comprehensive floor plans using specialized design software like 2020 Design, AutoCAD, or SketchUp.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling design proposals and persuasive presentations to clients, effectively articulating the design intent, value, and return on investment.
  • Perform precise on-site measurements and thorough field verification of existing structural, plumbing, and electrical conditions to ensure a flawless design integration.
  • Generate detailed project specifications, comprehensive material lists, and transparent, itemized cost estimates and formal quotes for client review and approval.

  • Troubleshoot and creatively resolve any design challenges or installation issues that may arise during the project, providing practical, effective, and timely solutions.
  • Foster and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients, going above and beyond to encourage repeat business and generate positive word-of-mouth referrals.
  • Conduct final post-installation walkthroughs with clients to ensure their absolute satisfaction, create a punch list, and address any final details.

  • Maintain an expert-level, up-to-date knowledge of the company's complete product catalog, including cabinetry construction, hardware options, and available custom modifications.
  • Proactively stay current with the latest global industry trends, emerging materials, smart home technology, and cutting-edge innovations in kitchen design and ergonomics.
  • Contribute to the visual merchandising, organization, and overall aesthetic of the design showroom, ensuring it remains an inspiring and welcoming space for clients.
  • Develop and consistently maintain a professional portfolio of completed projects to effectively showcase design capabilities and personal style to prospective clients.
  • Assist the broader sales team by providing in-depth technical design support and participating in joint sales presentations for high-value or complex projects.
  • Prepare and diligently manage all project-related documentation, including client contracts, purchase orders, and change orders, ensuring meticulous accuracy and record-keeping.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Kitchen Design Software Proficiency: Expert-level ability in industry-standard software such as 2020 Design, Cabinet Vision, ProKitchen, or Chief Architect.
  • CAD & 3D Modeling: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawings and SketchUp, Revit, or similar for 3D visualizations and renderings.
  • Technical Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of cabinetry construction, wood species, materials science (e.g., quartz, granite, solid surface), hardware, and appliance specifications.
  • Spatial Planning & Awareness: An exceptional ability to visualize and manipulate spaces in three dimensions, ensuring functional layouts that adhere to NKBA guidelines and building codes.
  • Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: The skill to accurately read and interpret architectural blueprints, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) plans, and technical drawings.

Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree from a CIDA-accredited program is highly desirable. Certifications like AKBD or CKD from the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) are a significant plus.
