Primary Functions
- Safely perform selective demolition in kitchen spaces, including removal of cabinetry, countertops, appliances, fixtures, flooring, and non-load-bearing partitions while protecting existing structural elements and adjacent rooms.

- Cut, fit, and install finish trim, moldings, and kickboards to create clean transitions between cabinetry, walls, and flooring, using miter saws, routers, and finish nailers with attention to surface prep and finish quality.
- Assist with basic tile layout and installation for backsplashes and flooring: mix thinset, set tile to layout, maintain grout joints, and clean tile surfaces, following pattern and mosaic instructions from the lead installer.
- Prepare and assist with rough plumbing and electrical work for kitchen remodels under supervision—locating and marking fixture positions, disconnecting and reconnecting appliances, and coordinating with licensed plumbers/electricians.
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely (circular saws, drills, impact drivers, jigsaws, sanders, tile saws) while following established safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Load, unload, and stage materials and appliances at job sites, ensuring inventory accuracy, protecting finished materials from damage, and communicating shortages or defects to the project lead.
- Read and interpret basic construction drawings, cabinet shop drawings, and material specifications to assist in layout, cut lists, and daily task planning.
- Assist with subfloor repairs, leveling, and preparation for new flooring installations to ensure a stable, flat surface for cabinetry and countertops.
- Follow project schedules and assist in maintaining daily progress logs, reporting completed tasks and impediments to the site supervisor to support on-time project delivery.
- Perform site cleanup and waste disposal daily, including hauling debris, sweeping work areas, and ensuring safe, organized job sites to reduce trip hazards and maintain professional appearance.
- Help with appliance installation and placement: securing ranges, dishwashers, refrigerators, and built-in ovens to cabinetry and rough connections as coordinated with licensed trades.
- Participate in layout verification and final punch list activities: checking alignments, door gaps, hardware function, and finish quality; reporting defects and implementing corrective actions under guidance.
- Support onsite measurements and templating for custom cabinetry and countertop fabrication, documenting critical dimensions and material choices for the shop or fabricator.
- Learn and apply local building codes, permit requirements, and inspection processes to ensure compliance during demolition, framing modifications, and utility relocations.
- Work with senior staff to perform basic countertop seam finishing, caulking, and adhesive application, ensuring durable joints and cosmetically sound finish details.
- Assist with installation of specialized components such as drawer slides, soft-close hinges, lazy Susans, and pantry accessories, gaining familiarity with common hardware systems.
- Observe and participate in quality control checks, ensuring installed components meet company standards for fit, finish, and function prior to client walkthroughs.
- Shadow lead carpenters and installers to learn project estimating basics, material takeoffs, and time-to-complete estimations to build trade knowledge for future advancement.
- Keep a personal training log, attend on-site toolbox talks, and engage in assigned safety and skills training modules to progress through the apprenticeship curriculum.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain and sharpen tools, perform routine maintenance on power equipment, and ensure vehicles and trailers are stocked with consumables and replacement blades to minimize job delays.
