Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting and diagnosing complex malfunctions in a variety of kitchen appliances, including commercial-grade ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, fryers, and microwaves.
  • Actively participate in the hands-on repair and replacement of faulty components such as heating elements, motors, thermostats, gaskets, and electronic control boards under direct supervision.
  • Learn and apply proper techniques for carefully disassembling and reassembling complex kitchen equipment to access internal parts for service without causing damage.
  • Execute routine preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning condenser coils, lubricating moving parts, descaling water-fed equipment, and calibrating temperature settings to extend equipment lifespan.
  • Accurately read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and engineering schematics to understand equipment operation and follow precise repair procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, both in the workshop and at client locations, by consistently adhering to all company and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Help manage and organize the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, assisting with stock counts and ensuring necessary items are available for scheduled service calls.
  • Meticulously document all service activities, including initial diagnosis, parts used, and actions taken, in the company's work order management system with a high degree of precision.
  • Shadow experienced technicians on live service calls to observe professional customer interaction, on-site problem-solving techniques, and efficient workflow management.
  • Gain proficiency in using a range of diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and temperature probes, to test electrical circuits and mechanical systems for faults.
  • Support the installation of new kitchen equipment, ensuring it is set up, calibrated, and tested correctly according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
  • Communicate effectively with the service dispatch coordinator and senior technicians to provide timely updates on job progress, parts needed, and any encountered challenges.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and factory-sponsored training sessions to continuously build knowledge of new equipment models and emerging repair technologies.
  • Assist in researching and ordering the correct replacement parts from various suppliers, verifying compatibility, model numbers, and technical specifications.
  • Provide basic, clear operational guidance to clients on how to properly use and care for their equipment after a repair has been completed to prevent future issues.
