Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Skillfully operate industrial linking machines (e.g., Hague, Exacta) to seamlessly join knitted garment pieces such as collars, cuffs, sleeves, and body panels.
  • Expertly use various industrial sewing machines, including overlockers and sergers, to construct and secure seams on a diverse range of knitwear products.
  • Meticulously inspect raw knitted panels and finished garments for any defects, such as dropped stitches, holes, yarn inconsistencies, or sizing errors.
  • Perform intricate hand-sewing tasks, including attaching buttons, labels, and trims, as well as securely weaving in loose ends for a clean, professional finish.
  • Execute precise mending and repair work on flawed garments, utilizing darning and re-knitting techniques to salvage products and minimize waste.
  • Operate commercial washing, dry cleaning, and drying equipment according to specific fabric care instructions to properly treat and pre-shrink garments.
  • Apply steaming, pressing, and blocking techniques to shape garments, smooth out wrinkles, and ensure they meet final measurement specifications.
  • Interpret and meticulously follow detailed technical packets, spec sheets, and finishing instructions for each unique style and production run.
  • Consistently measure finished garments against approved specifications and tolerance levels to guarantee accurate sizing and fit.
  • Collaborate directly with knitting machine technicians and the design team to troubleshoot and resolve quality or construction issues identified during the finishing process.
  • Maintain a high level of quality control throughout the finishing process, taking ownership for the final aesthetic and structural integrity of each piece.
  • Sort, fold, and prepare finished garments for the packaging department, ensuring they are presented according to brand standards.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on linking machines, sewing machines, and pressing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Accurately track and document personal production output and completion rates to assist with workflow management and performance metrics.
  • Assist in organizing and managing the inventory of finishing supplies, including threads, buttons, labels, and other trims.
  • Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety procedures to maintain a secure and efficient production environment.
  • Contribute to the development and testing of new finishing techniques for prototype samples and new product lines.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss production goals, challenges, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior finishers or new team members on established finishing standards and techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any machine malfunctions, material shortages, or significant quality control trends.

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Linking Machine Operation: Proven proficiency in operating and troubleshooting industrial linking machines for knitwear.
  • Industrial Sewing: Expertise with overlock, serger, and flatlock sewing machines.
  • Hand Finishing: Advanced hand-sewing, mending, and darning skills for fine-gauge knits.
  • Garment Construction: Deep understanding of knitwear assembly, construction methods, and terminology.
  • Quality Inspection: Ability to meticulously identify a wide range of knitting and finishing defects.
  • Tech Pack Interpretation: Skill in reading and accurately executing instructions from technical packets and spec sheets.
    -Pressing & Steaming: Experience with professional steam irons, presses, and blocking forms to shape and finish garments.
  • Fabric Knowledge: Familiarity with different yarn types (wool, cotton, cashmere, synthetics) and their handling properties.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
