Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Diligently load yarn packages and cones onto the machine's creel, ensuring correct color, lot number, and yarn type as specified by the production order.
Skillfully thread yarn through all machine guides, tensioners, and feeding mechanisms in the correct sequence to prepare the machine for operation.
Constantly monitor the operation of multiple industrial knitting machines to proactively identify and respond to yarn breaks, needle faults, or other mechanical stoppages.
Perform initial quality control checks on knitted fabric as it is produced, spotting defects such as holes, dropped stitches, oil stains, or inconsistencies in the pattern.
Carefully remove, or "doff," finished rolls of fabric from the machines, ensuring they are handled properly to prevent damage or soiling.
Assist senior operators with complex machine setups and changeovers for different styles, patterns, or yarn types, learning the intricacies of the process.
Conduct routine cleaning of the knitting machines and the surrounding work area, including removing lint buildup and waste yarn to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, such as oiling specified machine parts and replacing broken needles under the guidance of a technician.
Accurately weigh, measure, and label completed fabric rolls with essential information like style number, roll number, weight, and production date.
Immediately flag and report any non-conforming fabric, machine malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Shift Supervisor or a Senior Technician.
Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or hand trucks, to transport yarn to the machines and move finished goods to the next production stage.
Maintain a steady supply of necessary materials, such as yarn and spare needles, at the workstation to minimize production interruptions.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of different yarn types (e.g., cotton, polyester, wool, spandex) and their specific handling requirements.
Learn to interpret technical sheets and production orders to understand the specifications for each knitting job.
Collaborate with the quality assurance team by providing fabric samples for detailed inspection and testing.
