Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Operate and actively monitor assigned production machinery and equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation throughout the shift.
  • Meticulously observe and interpret gauges, dials, control panels, and other digital or analog indicators to verify conformity of process conditions.
  • Make precise adjustments to machine controls, such as speed, feed rate, temperature, or pressure, to regulate the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct regular in-process quality control checks on parts and products, utilizing visual inspection and measurement tools to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Perform first-line troubleshooting to identify and resolve minor equipment malfunctions, jams, or process deviations to minimize downtime.
  • Execute equipment changeovers and set-ups for different product runs according to production schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Adhere strictly to all plant safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Read and accurately interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to determine job specifications and material requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate production logs, performance records, and quality control documentation for reporting and traceability.
  • Load raw materials into machines and unload finished products, preparing them for the next stage of production or for shipping.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing minor parts, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Stop or shut down equipment in emergency situations or when major process deviations occur, and promptly report the issue to supervision.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges, to confirm product dimensions are within tolerance.
  • Monitor the flow of materials and components through the production process, ensuring a steady supply to prevent interruptions.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis related to production efficiency and quality trends.
  • Contribute to the organization's continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality assurance teams to diagnose complex equipment problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Participate actively in daily shift-change meetings, effectively communicating production status, equipment issues, and any safety concerns.
  • Assist in training new or less experienced operators on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area by applying 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Manage the inventory of supplies and tools needed for the assigned work cell, and report any shortages.
  • Identify, segregate, and properly document any non-conforming products or materials according to company quality procedures.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the production team to align on weekly goals and priorities.
  • Calibrate machinery and measuring equipment at specified intervals to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

  • Machine Operation: Proven ability to set up, operate, and monitor industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Process Control: Strong understanding of how to adjust machine parameters (speed, temperature, pressure) to influence outcomes.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial setting.

Preferred: Direct experience operating specific types of machinery relevant to the industry (e.g., CNC, PLC-controlled systems, extrusion, injection molding). Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is highly advantageous.
