Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Meticulously prepare, process, and label various biological or chemical samples according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure sample integrity and traceability.
- Execute a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and assays, such as PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, or titrations, under the direct supervision of senior lab personnel.
- Accurately record all experimental data, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks, spreadsheets, or a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with a high degree of precision.
- Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on standard laboratory equipment, including but not limited to centrifuges, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and microscopes.
- Practice and promote strict adherence to all laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in the preparation of reagents, buffers, and media needed for daily experiments, ensuring all solutions are made to precise specifications.
- Perform cell culture and aseptic techniques to maintain and propagate cell lines for ongoing research projects, preventing contamination.
- Analyze and interpret preliminary data sets, preparing simple charts and graphs to summarize findings for review by the research team.
- Follow detailed experimental protocols and SOPs without deviation, while also learning to identify potential issues or areas for process improvement.
- Support senior scientists in the setup and execution of more complex, non-routine experiments, gaining exposure to advanced research methodologies.
