Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage with every customer, initiating genuine conversations to understand their individual style preferences, fit needs, and occasion for their purchase.
  • Provide expert-level styling advice, moving beyond single items to assemble complete, accessorized outfits that align with the customer's taste and the brand's aesthetic.
  • Drive and achieve personal and store sales goals by leveraging deep product knowledge, communicating the value of the merchandise, and utilizing effective upselling and cross-selling techniques.
  • Masterfully manage the fitting room experience, providing attentive service, fetching alternative sizes and styles, and offering honest, constructive feedback to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Cultivate and nurture a personal book of clients through consistent follow-up, personalized communication about new arrivals, and remembering key details about their preferences and lifestyle.
  • Act as a product knowledge expert, educating customers on fabric composition, garment care, brand history, and the unique design features of each piece in the collection.
  • Process customer transactions with accuracy and efficiency using the point-of-sale (POS) system, adeptly handling various payment methods and ensuring a smooth checkout process.
  • Inform and excite customers about ongoing promotions, store events, loyalty programs, and other initiatives designed to enhance the shopping experience and drive traffic.
  • Serve as a style authority, guiding clients through the collections and helping them build a versatile wardrobe that reflects their personality and meets their needs.
  • Handle customer returns, exchanges, and concerns with a high degree of empathy and professionalism, seeking positive resolutions that maintain customer loyalty.
  • Conduct private styling appointments, preparing a curated assortment of apparel in advance based on the client's profile and expressed needs.
  • Build trust and become a go-to style advisor, encouraging clients to step outside their comfort zone and discover new looks that make them feel their best.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the store's visual presentation, ensuring all apparel is beautifully displayed, folded, or hung according to company merchandising standards.
  • Participate in restocking the sales floor from the stockroom, ensuring all sizes and styles are well-represented and accessible to customers.
  • Support the merchandising team in executing floor-set changes, window displays, and mannequin styling to create a visually compelling and on-brand environment.
  • Help receive and process new inventory shipments, which includes unboxing, steaming, applying sensors, and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and organization in all customer-facing areas, including fitting rooms, the cash wrap, and the sales floor.
  • Stay relentlessly current with fashion industry trends, seasonal collection narratives, and competitor activities to provide informed and relevant styling advice.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by communicating effectively with peers and management and contributing to shared store goals.
  • Communicate valuable customer feedback and product requests to the store leadership team to help inform future buying and merchandising decisions.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in operating modern Point of Sale (POS) systems and payment processing hardware.
  • Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles and the ability to execute brand directives.
  • In-depth knowledge of different apparel fabrics, silhouettes, garment construction, and proper care techniques.
  • Experience utilizing clienteling tools or CRM software to manage customer data and communication.
  • Competency in inventory management tasks, including stock-taking, replenishment, and organization.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within apparel retail or a related field.
