Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Operate and monitor single- and multi-roll laminating machines (thermal, cold, hot-melt, UV, and solvent-based systems) to produce laminated products to documented customer and internal specifications, ensuring consistent machine speed, temperature, and pressure settings.
- Set up laminating equipment for new runs, including loading and aligning film/foil webs, installing adhesive systems, threading materials through rollers and guides, adjusting nip and pressure settings, and calibrating ovens and chill rolls to specification.
- Perform precise web handling and tension control during start-up, steady-state production, and roll changes, using dancer bars, tension controllers, and manual adjustments to prevent wrinkles, telescoping, and web breaks.
- Measure and verify finished product attributes (bond quality, peel strength, film thickness, gloss, and edge quality) using calipers, micrometers, hand testers, and visual inspection; record and report measurement data to QA and production logs.
- Apply, mix, and meter adhesives according to formulas and batch instructions; monitor adhesive viscosity, pot life, and cure profiles, and make process adjustments to maintain bond performance and finish quality.
- Execute roll changes, splices, and roll building with speed and safety, minimizing downtime and ensuring consistent roll identification, core alignment, and end-of-roll handling to meet production schedules.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues at the line (roller misalignment, air entrapment, poor adhesion, edge seaming, uneven cure) and perform immediate corrective actions; escalate complex problems to maintenance or engineering with clear documentation.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning ovens, replacing seals and rollers, lubricating bearings, inspecting belts and gears, and performing basic electrical checks to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
- Follow and maintain strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, machine guarding policies, and facility safety standards while performing changeovers, maintenance, and line interventions to protect personnel and product integrity.
- Maintain production documentation and batch records, including setup sheets, production counts, scrap logs, inspection results, and shift handover notes to ensure traceability and compliance with customer and internal audits.
- Adjust and calibrate process control panels, PLC/HMI settings, and ancillary equipment (dryers, chillers, corona treatment units) to optimize cure profiles, adhesive activation, and surface treatment results.
- Monitor raw material inventory at the line — films, adhesives, liners, cores — and perform first-in-first-out (FIFO) stock rotation, report shortages, and assist with receiving and storage to prevent production interruptions.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to investigate customer complaints, nonconforming product, and out-of-spec events; participate in root-cause analysis, containment actions, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Meet and exceed production targets including throughput, on-time delivery, yield, and scrap rate reduction by optimizing line speed, minimizing stops, and following best-practice setup procedures.
- Train and mentor new laminating operators on proper setup, safety, inspection criteria, and troubleshooting techniques; develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions when processes change.
- Perform sample testing and inline quality checks (peel tests, adhesion tests, thickness profiling) and provide feedback to process engineering for parameter adjustments or material change recommendations.
- Coordinate with upstream printing or coating operations and downstream slitting, converting, or packing teams to ensure seamless material flow, correct roll specification, and fulfillment of customer order requirements.
- Implement and support lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen events, SMED) to reduce changeover times, eliminate waste, and increase line efficiency while documenting improvements and tracking performance metrics.
- Ensure environmental, health, and safety compliance when handling adhesives, solvents, and heat systems; follow material safety data sheet (MSDS) procedures for storage, spill response, and disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping at the machine area, including removal of adhesive buildup, reclaiming usable scrap where appropriate, and preparing the line for the next scheduled run to ensure product quality and worker safety.
- Participate in shift meetings and provide clear, concise production updates, handovers, and notes to supervisors and peers to maintain continuous operations across shifts.

Minimum Education:
