Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute comprehensive turf management programs, including mowing, line trimming, and precision edging of lawns, athletic fields, and common areas to maintain a uniform and manicured appearance.
Perform detailed horticultural care, such as weeding, cultivating, and mulching of landscape beds to promote plant health and suppress weed growth.
Skillfully prune and trim shrubs, hedges, and small trees to ensure their health, shape, and structural integrity, while promoting vigorous growth and flowering.
Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to identify, diagnose, and treat insect, disease, and weed issues using appropriate and safe application of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
Operate a diverse range of commercial-grade landscaping equipment, including zero-turn mowers, walk-behinds, aerators, dethatchers, blowers, and power trimmers, while adhering to all safety protocols.
Conduct seasonal landscape activities, such as spring clean-up to remove winter debris and prepare beds for new growth, and fall leaf removal and mulching.
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, performing tasks like adjusting sprinkler heads, programming controllers, and conducting minor repairs to ensure efficient water distribution and conservation.
Install seasonal color displays, including planting annuals, perennials, and bulbs according to design plans to enhance the property's visual appeal.
Apply granular and liquid fertilizers to turf and ornamental plants based on soil conditions and plant nutritional requirements.
Ensure the cleanliness and safety of all outdoor areas by clearing walkways, patios, and parking lots of debris, trash, and natural elements.
Identify and report any potential hazards or structural issues on the property, such as broken pavement, damaged fencing, or drainage problems.
Perform core aeration and overseeding on turf areas to alleviate soil compaction, improve root growth, and enhance turf density.
Maintain and perform basic preventative maintenance on all tools and equipment, including cleaning, sharpening blades, checking fluid levels, and reporting needs for major repairs.
Prepare and grade soil for new planting areas, ensuring proper composition and drainage for optimal plant establishment.
Safely operate light-duty vehicles for transporting crew members, materials, and equipment to and from job sites.
Manage and remove green waste and other debris from the property in an environmentally responsible manner.
In applicable climates, perform snow and ice removal duties using plows, snow blowers, and chemical de-icers to maintain safe access to properties.
Document daily work activities, materials used, and site conditions, providing clear and concise reports to the crew leader or supervisor.
Interact professionally with clients or property managers on-site, providing courteous responses to inquiries and reporting any relevant observations.
Adhere strictly to company and industry safety standards, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
