Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute routine lawn care, including mowing, line trimming, and edging, to maintain a neat and uniform appearance across diverse turf areas.
- Perform detailed pruning and trimming of trees, hedges, and shrubs to promote healthy growth, shape, and overall plant vitality.
- Conduct seasonal planting of annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs according to landscape designs and horticultural best practices.
- Apply fertilizers, soil amendments, and mulch to garden beds and landscaped areas to enrich soil and support robust plant life.
- Operate a variety of professional-grade power equipment such as zero-turn mowers, push mowers, backpack blowers, trimmers, and chainsaws safely and efficiently.
- Perform comprehensive seasonal property clean-ups, including leaf removal in the fall and debris clearing in the spring, to prepare landscapes for the upcoming season.
- Meticulously remove weeds from garden beds, walkways, and other landscaped areas by hand or with appropriate tools to maintain a clean aesthetic.
- Monitor, adjust, and perform minor repairs on sprinkler and irrigation systems to ensure optimal water distribution and conservation.
- Identify common landscape pests, diseases, and invasive plant species, reporting findings to the crew leader for appropriate treatment.
- Install landscape materials such as sod, rock, and decorative stone to enhance or repair outdoor spaces.
- Constantly monitor the overall health and condition of all plant material on-site, proactively addressing any signs of stress or decline.
- Ensure all walkways, patios, and common areas are kept clean, clear, and safe for pedestrian traffic by removing debris and potential hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Water plant material and turf areas as needed, using hoses, sprinklers, or watering cans to supplement irrigation and prevent drought stress.
- Assist in basic hardscape maintenance, which may include tasks like resetting loose pavers or cleaning surfaces.
- Communicate effectively with the Crew Leader regarding job progress, material needs, and any issues encountered on-site.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers with all necessary equipment, tools, and materials required for the day's assigned tasks.
Secondary Functions
- Provide support for snow and ice removal operations during winter months, including shoveling, plowing, and applying de-icing agents.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of low-voltage landscape lighting and small water features.
- Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed, materials consumed, and hours allocated to specific jobs.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients on-site, answering basic questions and directing more complex inquiries to the crew leader.
