Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Perform comprehensive grounds maintenance duties, including precision mowing, line trimming, and blowing to maintain a clean, manicured appearance for turf areas.
Execute meticulous garden and bed maintenance, which involves weeding, cultivating, mulching, and edging to promote plant health and visual appeal.
Skillfully prune and trim shrubs, hedges, and small trees to maintain their shape, encourage healthy growth, and prevent disease or infestation.
Plant a variety of horticultural materials, including annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees, following design specifications and best practices for planting depth and soil preparation.
Operate a wide range of power equipment safely and efficiently, such as commercial-grade mowers, aerators, tillers, chainsaws, and sod cutters.
Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides according to integrated pest management (IPM) principles, ensuring correct application rates and adherence to all safety protocols.
Install landscape and hardscape features, including laying sod, building retaining walls, installing paver patios, and setting up water features.
Monitor the health of all plant life, identifying and diagnosing issues related to pests, diseases, or environmental stress, and implementing corrective actions.
Perform seasonal property services such as spring clean-up, which includes de-thatching, aerating, and removing winter debris.
Conduct fall clean-up activities, including leaf removal, perennial cutbacks, and preparing landscapes for winter dormancy.
Manage and repair irrigation systems, including inspecting for leaks, adjusting sprinkler heads for optimal coverage, and programming controllers.
Ensure all job sites are kept clean, organized, and safe for both the crew and the public, clearing pathways and removing hazards.
Prepare soil for new plantings by tilling, amending with compost or other organic matter, and grading to ensure proper drainage.
Operate light to medium-duty trucks and trailers for transporting equipment, materials, and debris to and from job sites.
Communicate professionally with clients on-site to provide updates on project progress and answer basic questions about landscape care.
Interpret landscape design plans and blueprints to accurately implement planting schemes and hardscape layouts.
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning on tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working order and report any significant issues for repair.
Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter months, which may include shoveling, operating snow blowers, or applying de-icing agents.
Document work completed, materials used, and hours logged for accurate record-keeping and billing purposes.
Adhere to all company and industry safety standards, consistently wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Secondary Functions

Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers, ensuring all materials and equipment are properly secured.
Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting other crew members and sharing knowledge.
Report any property damage or potential hazards observed on a client's property to the crew leader immediately.
