Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Meticulously collect soiled laundry and linens from guest rooms, collection points, and various hotel departments according to a set schedule.
- Expertly sort all laundry, separating items by color, fabric type, and cleaning requirements to prevent damage and ensure optimal cleaning results.
- Accurately weigh laundry loads and load them into commercial washing machines, ensuring machines are not overloaded to maintain equipment longevity.
- Select and administer the correct cleaning agents, detergents, bleaches, and softeners based on the specific material and soil level of the items being washed.
- Skillfully operate and monitor commercial-grade washing and drying equipment, adjusting settings for temperature, cycle time, and fabric type.
- Carefully load and unload linens from dryers, ensuring items are not over-dried to prevent shrinkage and damage to fibers.
- Proficiently operate laundry finishing equipment such as steam tunnels, flatwork ironers, and garment presses to achieve a crisp, professional finish on all items.
- Precisely fold, stack, and hang cleaned linens and garments according to established hotel standards, ensuring they are neat and ready for distribution.
- Conduct thorough quality inspections on all finished laundry, identifying and segregating any stained, damaged, or torn items for re-washing or repair.
- Diligently pre-treat and spot-treat stains on garments and linens using specialized chemical solutions and techniques prior to washing.
- Assemble and process guest laundry and dry-cleaning orders with accuracy, ensuring all items are accounted for and correctly billed.
- Securely wrap and prepare finished guest laundry for delivery, ensuring presentation is neat and professional.
- Provide prompt and courteous delivery of cleaned garments to guest rooms, confirming receipt and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date log of all laundry activities, including items processed, guest orders, and any reported issues.
- Systematically stock and organize linen closets throughout the property, ensuring an adequate supply of fresh towels, sheets, and other textiles are always available for housekeeping staff.
Secondary Functions
- Consistently maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility, including sweeping floors, wiping down machines, and cleaning lint traps.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of all laundry supplies and chemicals, reporting shortages to the supervisor to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on laundry equipment as directed, such as cleaning filters and checking fluid levels, and promptly report any malfunctions or needs for repair.
