Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of complex business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications for large-scale enterprise projects.
  • Facilitate and lead high-level workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions with executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business process models (using BPMN or similar notation) to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for optimization and automation.
  • Conduct in-depth gap analysis between current-state and future-state business processes, architecting solutions that bridge these divides effectively.
  • Act as the primary conduit between business units, technology teams, and support teams, ensuring clear, consistent, and continuous communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create and manage detailed project documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), use cases, and traceability matrices.
  • Define and elaborate on detailed user stories with clear, concise acceptance criteria in an Agile/Scrum environment, managing the product backlog in collaboration with the Product Owner.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and formal leadership to a team of junior and mid-level Business Analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the BA practice.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into detailed, actionable requirements.
  • Lead the planning and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including the development of test plans, test cases, and coordination of business user testing.
  • Perform impact analysis and risk assessment for proposed changes to systems and processes, providing clear recommendations to leadership.
  • Drive the resolution of complex issues by identifying and analyzing the root cause and proposing pragmatic short-term and long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and development leads to ensure that proposed technical solutions are aligned with business needs and strategic goals.
  • Present and communicate complex business and technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences, from C-level executives to individual developers, in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Champion and enforce best practices for the business analysis function, contributing to the development of internal methodologies, templates, and standards.
  • Own the functional design of a solution, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and aligns with the long-term vision of the product and business.
  • Negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts among stakeholders with differing perspectives to ensure project alignment and forward momentum.
  • Support the Project Manager in defining project timelines, resource allocation, and budget by providing detailed estimates for analysis and testing efforts.
  • Analyze the business and financial impact of technology solutions, contributing to the development of business cases and ROI calculations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and business analysis best practices to continuously enhance the value delivered to the organization.

  • Requirements Management: Expert-level proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Azure DevOps for managing backlogs, user stories, and project documentation.
  • Business Process Modeling: Mastery of process mapping and modeling using tools like Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or similar, and notations like BPMN 2.0.
  • Data Analysis: Strong proficiency in SQL for querying databases to perform data analysis, validate requirements, and support testing efforts.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst role, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or lead capacity.

  • A proven track record of formally or informally mentoring and coaching junior team members.
