Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Steer the end-to-end design process for major product initiatives, from discovery and conceptualization through to detailed UI design, prototyping, and final implementation.
  • Establish and evolve the design vision, strategy, and principles for your product area, ensuring tight alignment with the overarching company strategy and user needs.
  • Act as a mentor and guide for a group of designers, providing regular feedback, fostering professional growth, and elevating the overall quality of the team's design execution.
  • Lead by example through hands-on creation of key design deliverables, including user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes for complex features.
  • Collaborate intimately with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to define product requirements, navigate technical constraints, and ensure solutions are both valuable and feasible.
  • Plan, facilitate, and synthesize user research and usability testing sessions to gather critical insights that inform design decisions and validate product direction.
  • Present and articulate design concepts, rationale, and research findings with conviction to stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Drive the creation, maintenance, and adoption of a comprehensive design system to ensure visual and interactive consistency across the entire product ecosystem.
  • Facilitate and lead design critiques, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to encourage innovative thinking and collaborative problem-solving within the team.
  • Define and own the user journey for your domain, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement across every user touchpoint.
  • Act as the primary design advocate and point of contact for one or more cross-functional product squads, ensuring design has a strong voice in all strategic discussions.
  • Translate abstract and complex problems into simple, elegant, and accessible user experiences that serve a diverse, global user base.
  • Balance competing priorities, including user goals, business objectives, and technical feasibility, to make pragmatic decisions that move the product forward.
  • Champion a culture of design excellence, user empathy, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Define key experience metrics (KPIs) and use data-driven insights to measure the impact of design solutions and identify areas for optimization.

Secondary Functions

  • Actively participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding process to attract and retain top-tier design talent.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend new design tools, methodologies, and processes to improve the team's efficiency, creativity, and overall impact.
  • Partner with marketing and brand teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent brand experience is maintained across all product and marketing touchpoints.
  • Create and maintain clear design documentation, including principles, style guides, and component specifications, for use by the broader organization.
  • Proactively identify and resolve ambiguities and roadblocks in the design and development process to keep projects on track.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • UI/UX Design Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Prototyping: Ability to create a range of prototypes, from low-fidelity click-throughs to high-fidelity, interactive mockups using tools like Principle or Framer.
  • Design Systems Management: Deep experience in building, documenting, and maintaining scalable design systems that serve multiple products and teams.
  • User Research & Synthesis: Proficiency in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., user interviews, usability testing, surveys) and the ability to synthesize findings into actionable insights.

Educational Background

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • A robust portfolio showcasing a track record of shipping successful, user-centered products in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience working on both B2B and B2C products is highly valued.
