Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Drive the end-to-end annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to build detailed, assumption-driven financial plans that align with corporate objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models from the ground up to support long-range strategic planning, new business initiatives, and M&A evaluation.
  • Act as the primary financial business partner for one or more key departments (e.g., Marketing, Sales, R&D), providing dedicated support and challenging assumptions to optimize resource allocation.
  • Prepare and present a comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reporting package for the executive leadership team, highlighting key performance indicators, variance analysis, and insightful commentary on business trends.
  • Conduct deep-dive variance analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast, identifying root causes and communicating key business drivers to stakeholders.
  • Lead the financial evaluation of capital expenditure requests, developing robust business cases and ROI analyses to support investment decisions.
  • Partner with the Accounting team during the month-end close process to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data and to provide necessary accrual information.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide informal guidance to junior financial analysts, reviewing their work and fostering their professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the FP&A function, leading projects to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage and analyze operating expenses and headcount, partnering with HR and department leaders to ensure alignment with financial targets.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards and other business intelligence tools to provide real-time visibility into financial and operational performance.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and scenario modeling to support senior management with critical, time-sensitive business decisions.
  • Consolidate financial results and narratives from various business units, creating a cohesive and comprehensive view of the company's overall performance.
  • Support the preparation of presentation materials for the Board of Directors, investors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Analyze the financial impact of new pricing strategies, promotional activities, and product launches to inform commercial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the data analytics team to ensure data integrity and to build out data infrastructure that supports more sophisticated financial analysis.
  • Evaluate and track company performance against competitor and industry benchmarks to identify areas of opportunity or risk.
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of financial planning systems (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Hyperion).
  • Interpret and explain the financial implications of strategic initiatives, contracts, and business-development opportunities.
  • Champion financial literacy across the organization, helping non-finance partners understand their department's financial impact.
  • Prepare financial covenant calculations and reports for lenders and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Financial Modeling: Proven ability to build complex, dynamic, and scalable three-statement financial models from scratch in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Expert-Level Excel: Mastery of advanced functions including nested IF statements, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, Power Query, and VBA macros.
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Hands-on experience creating dashboards and reports in tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • FP&A Software: Proficiency with corporate performance management (CPM) systems such as Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Oracle Hyperion, or Planful.
  • ERP Systems: Solid understanding of and experience with major ERP systems like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • SQL/Database Querying: Ability to write queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience directly supporting and partnering with senior business leaders outside of the finance function.
  • A track record of mentoring and developing junior analysts.
