Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Skillfully load outbound freight onto trucks, trailers, and shipping containers, ensuring proper weight distribution, stability, and adherence to load plans to prevent transit damage.
Systematically unload inbound shipments, carefully segregating products and materials and moving them to designated staging areas within the warehouse.
Operate material handling equipment, such as manual and electric pallet jacks and hand trucks, in a safe and efficient manner to move inventory.
Conduct thorough inspections of all incoming and outgoing shipments for any signs of damage, overages, or shortages, and report any discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
Read and interpret shipping orders, work orders, and bills of lading to determine which items need to be moved, gathered, distributed, or shipped.
Utilize RF (Radio Frequency) scanning devices to accurately track the movement of inventory, scan barcodes on pallets and packages, and update the Warehouse Management System (WMS) in real-time.
Prepare outbound shipments by stacking, wrapping, and labeling pallets according to company standards and specific customer requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the loading dock and surrounding areas, clearing debris and storing equipment properly.
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Manually lift and move heavy items, often weighing up to 50-75 pounds, consistently throughout the shift, either individually or as part of a team.
Ensure that all shipping and receiving documents are completed accurately and legibly, and are routed to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Stage and consolidate products for outbound orders, verifying that all items are correct and accounted for before the loading process begins.
Communicate effectively with truck drivers to coordinate the placement of trailers at the dock doors and to ensure a smooth hand-off of freight and paperwork.
Participate actively in physical inventory counts and cycle counts, assisting in the reconciliation of stock and helping to maintain inventory accuracy.

Secondary Functions

Assist with periodic cycle counts and physical inventory verification to support the inventory control team and ensure system data accuracy.
Provide constructive feedback on loading processes and suggest potential improvements to enhance operational efficiency, workflow, and workplace safety.
Collaborate with warehouse supervisors, clerks, and other team members to effectively coordinate the daily flow of inbound and outbound shipments.
Participate in daily team huddles and safety meetings to review performance goals, discuss operational challenges, and stay informed on procedural updates.
Perform minor housekeeping duties, such as sweeping floors, disposing of trash and recycling, and organizing supplies to contribute to overall facility maintenance.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operation: Proficient in operating manual/electric pallet jacks and hand trucks. Forklift certification is a significant advantage.
RF Scanner Proficiency: Experience using handheld RF scanning devices to manage inventory, track shipments, and process orders within a WMS.
Load Planning & Securement: Knowledge of proper techniques for stacking, wrapping, and securing freight to ensure stability and prevent damage during transport.
Shipping & Receiving Documentation: Familiarity with reading and understanding documents like Bills of Lading (BOL), packing slips, and work orders.
Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform simple arithmetic for counting, verifying quantities, and checking for discrepancies.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Typical Experience Range: 0 - 2 years.

Preferred:
