Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, develop, and implement innovative logistics strategies and solutions to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and improve on-time delivery performance.
  • Analyze and model complex supply chain data to identify bottlenecks, performance gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement using advanced analytical tools.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to re-engineer warehouse layouts, material flow, and storage systems to maximize space utilization and operational productivity.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated performance metrics (KPIs) to monitor and report on all aspects of the logistics network, including inventory accuracy, freight costs, and carrier performance.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight carriers, and other vendors, leading contract negotiations and quarterly business reviews.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to streamline operations and enhance data visibility across the supply chain.
  • Conduct detailed network analysis and simulation modeling to determine optimal facility locations, inventory positioning, and distribution pathways.
  • Champion and implement Lean and Six Sigma principles within the logistics and distribution environment to eliminate waste and reduce process variation.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all logistics processes, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and technology teams to scope, test, and deploy new logistics software, automation, and hardware solutions.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects for logistics infrastructure, including new equipment, facility modifications, and technology upgrades, from conception to completion.
  • Perform root cause analysis on logistical failures, such as shipping delays or damages, and implement robust corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Develop packaging solutions that protect products during transit while minimizing material costs and environmental impact.
  • Support demand and supply planning teams by providing analytical insights into logistics capacity constraints and transportation lead times.
  • Lead time and motion studies to establish labor standards and identify opportunities for improving workforce productivity in warehouse and distribution centers.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on logistics and transportation regulations, ensuring the company's compliance with domestic and international shipping requirements.
  • Design and execute pilot programs for new logistics processes or technologies, measuring outcomes and presenting business cases for full-scale implementation.
  • Prepare and present detailed analytical reports and project updates to senior leadership, clearly communicating findings and strategic recommendations.
  • Facilitate training sessions for operations staff on new processes, systems, and best practices to ensure successful adoption and sustained performance.
  • Continuously benchmark the organization's logistics performance against industry best practices and emerging trends to drive a competitive advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Supply Chain & Network Optimization: Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain principles and experience with network design.
  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and advanced MS Excel for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • WMS/TMS Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major Warehouse Management Systems and Transportation Management Systems.
  • ERP Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP platforms like SAP (MM, SD, EWM modules), Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Process Improvement Methodologies: Certification or strong practical experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred).
