Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of complex logistics and supply chain projects, from initial concept and business case development through to final implementation, stabilization, and closure.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and required resources in collaboration with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of new logistics technologies, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and other supply chain visibility tools.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all project-related communications, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely updates to all stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing robust contingency plans to keep projects on track.
  • Manage project budgets meticulously, including cost estimation, expenditure tracking, financial forecasting, and variance reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams comprised of members from logistics, warehousing, IT, finance, procurement, and external vendors.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of logistics processes and performance data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service level improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather business requirements, map current and future state processes, and secure stakeholder buy-in for proposed changes.
  • Oversee vendor selection, negotiation, and relationship management for logistics-related services and technologies, including 3PLs, freight carriers, and software providers.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics to monitor progress, measure success, and drive a culture of accountability.
  • Ensure all logistics projects and their outcomes are in strict compliance with relevant local, national, and international regulations (e.g., trade compliance, customs, safety).
  • Drive the change management activities associated with project implementation, including developing training materials, conducting user training sessions, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Prepare and present detailed status reports, executive summaries, and steering committee presentations that articulate project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Spearhead network design and optimization projects, analyzing transportation lanes, facility locations, and inventory placement to build a more resilient and efficient supply chain.
  • Resolve complex operational escalations and logistical bottlenecks that arise during the project lifecycle through structured problem-solving and decisive action.
  • Champion continuous improvement methodologies (like Lean or Six Sigma) within the logistics function, using project work as a catalyst for broader operational excellence.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and 'lessons learned' sessions to capture best practices and identify areas for improvement in future project execution.
  • Coordinate physical logistics for project-related activities, such as site builds, new equipment installations, or large-scale product movements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, risk registers, communication plans, and final project reports.
