Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of logistics coordinators and warehouse associates, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing consistent coaching to foster growth and achieve departmental goals.
- Oversee and direct all daily warehouse operations, including inbound receiving, quality inspection, put-away, inventory management, order picking, packing, and outbound shipping to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Plan, delegate, and coordinate daily work assignments, ensuring optimal labor allocation to meet fluctuating operational demands and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Champion and enforce all health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), ensuring a secure and compliant work environment through regular audits, training, and immediate correction of hazards.
- Monitor and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy by overseeing robust cycle counting programs, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time shipment, order accuracy, inventory turns, and cost per unit, using data to drive operational decisions.
- Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within logistics workflows and implement continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma.
- Serve as the primary on-the-floor point of contact for resolving operational challenges, equipment issues, and personnel conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with transportation carriers and freight forwarders to coordinate pickups and deliveries, troubleshoot transit issues, and ensure cost-effective, timely transportation.
- Ensure all material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) is properly maintained, inspected, and operated safely according to company standards.
- Conduct regular team huddles and departmental meetings to communicate goals, safety alerts, and performance feedback, fostering a culture of transparency and engagement.
- Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and attendance records, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet daily, weekly, and seasonal targets.
- Facilitate comprehensive on-the-job training for new hires and cross-training for existing team members to enhance skills, flexibility, and career development.
- Meticulously investigate and document any shipping errors, receiving discrepancies, or customer complaints, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
