Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of lottery personnel, including scheduling, task assignment, and monitoring of work to ensure optimal staffing levels and operational efficiency.
- Provide comprehensive training and ongoing development for new and existing lottery agents on procedures, game rules, terminal operation, and responsible gaming practices.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, deliver constructive feedback, and implement coaching or disciplinary actions as necessary to foster a high-performing and motivated team.
- Oversee and manage all cash handling procedures, including till balancing, reconciliation of daily sales, preparation of bank deposits, and management of the main vault.
- Maintain meticulous control over lottery ticket inventory, including ordering, receiving, securing, and distributing instant scratch-off tickets, and conducting regular physical audits to prevent loss.
- Ensure strict adherence to all state, federal, and internal lottery regulations, policies, and procedures to guarantee the integrity and legality of all operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer escalations, professionally resolving disputes, answering complex questions about winnings, and addressing complaints to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Monitor the functionality of all lottery terminals, self-service kiosks, and related equipment, performing basic troubleshooting and coordinating with vendors for timely repairs and maintenance.
- Investigate and document any operational discrepancies, such as cash shortages, inventory variances, or potential fraudulent activity, and report findings to senior management.
- Prepare and analyze detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales performance, ticket activations, payouts, and other key operational metrics for management review.
- Oversee the entire prize-claiming process, verifying winning tickets, processing payments according to established thresholds, and ensuring accurate completion of all required winner documentation.
- Develop and implement opening and closing procedures for the lottery department, ensuring all security protocols are followed and the area is prepared for business.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to effectively execute lottery promotions, special events, and new game launches, ensuring staff are well-informed and materials are properly displayed.
- Maintain a secure work environment by monitoring surveillance systems, controlling access to sensitive areas, and enforcing all security policies to protect assets and personnel.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on all lottery games, including draw games and instant tickets, to effectively guide both staff and customers.
- Manage relationships with lottery-affiliated vendors and state lottery representatives, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of any issues.
