Primary Functions

Operate advanced imaging technology and X-ray machinery to screen baggage, meticulously analyzing images to identify threats, prohibited items, and suspicious objects.
Conduct systematic and thorough physical inspections of baggage and its contents when an alarm is triggered or an anomaly is detected, ensuring all items are screened.
Utilize Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment by taking and analyzing swabs from baggage to test for the presence of explosive materials.
Maintain intense focus and concentration for extended periods while monitoring screening equipment to ensure accurate interpretation and detection of concealed items.
Resolve security alarms on baggage by following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring every potential threat is fully investigated and mitigated.
Identify, isolate, and report any dangerous goods, hazardous materials, or prohibited items according to federal regulations and organizational policies.
Physically lift, move, and position baggage of varying weights (often up to 70 lbs) onto and off conveyor belts and inspection tables.
Clearly and calmly communicate with passengers to explain the screening process, provide instructions, and address concerns related to baggage inspections.
Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of all security directives, screening protocols, and evolving threat intelligence.
