Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance schedules on all production machinery and facility equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform emergency breakdown repairs on critical equipment to restore functionality and support production targets.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
- Install, align, and commission new machinery and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and fire protection, to ensure they are fully operational and compliant.
- Maintain, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to meticulously document all work orders, track asset history, and manage spare parts inventory.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement long-term reliability solutions and improvements.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform skilled welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as needed for equipment repair and modification projects.
- Calibrate and adjust industrial instrumentation and control systems to ensure precision, accuracy, and optimal performance.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and supplies, and initiate purchase requisitions to ensure availability.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job support to machine operators on proper equipment handling and minor maintenance tasks.
- Respond to after-hours and weekend emergency calls on a rotating basis to address urgent facility or equipment issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for significant equipment failures to identify underlying problems and prevent reoccurrence.
- Assist in the development, refinement, and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance tasks.
- Operate powered industrial trucks, such as forklifts and aerial lifts, in a safe and efficient manner to access equipment and perform maintenance duties.
- Conduct regular water quality tests and manage chemical treatments for essential systems like cooling towers and boilers.
- Support capital improvement projects by providing expert technical input and assisting with the installation and integration of new systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like SAP PM, Maximo, or UpKeep.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 480V/3-phase motors, VFDs, and control circuits.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) troubleshooting and diagnostics (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Skilled in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and general metal fabrication.
- HVAC systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (EPA 608 or similar certification is a strong plus).
- Deep understanding of OSHA safety standards, particularly Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding.
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermal imaging, ultrasonic testing).
- Competency in operating machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
