Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure all manufacturing targets and customer deadlines are consistently achieved.
  • Directly supervise, mentor, and coordinate the activities of production personnel, including technicians and operators, providing clear leadership, constructive guidance, and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Champion and enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards to maintain a zero-incident workplace culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Oversee and maintain the integrity of the Quality Management System (QMS) on the production floor, ensuring all products meet stringent quality specifications and client standards before release.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for any production-related non-conformances, equipment failures, or quality deviations, and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence.
  • Strategically manage the allocation of critical resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials, to optimize productivity and minimize costly downtime across all production shifts.
  • Train, mentor, and actively develop production team members, fostering a culture of accountability, skill enhancement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Prepare and analyze detailed production reports, meticulously tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), scrap rates, first-pass yield, and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with the Maintenance department to schedule and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans, minimizing unexpected equipment breakdowns and maximizing asset lifespan.
  • Liaise effectively with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to ensure a steady and timely flow of raw materials, preventing stock-outs that could disrupt the production schedule.
  • Maintain, review, and update all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for manufacturing processes, ensuring they are accurate, accessible, and strictly followed by all staff.
  • Lead engaging daily shift start-up meetings (huddles) to communicate production targets, safety alerts, and other critical information to the shop floor team, ensuring alignment and focus.
  • Act as the first point of contact for troubleshooting complex process or equipment issues that arise during production, coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams for swift resolution.
  • Manage shop floor inventory, including work-in-progress (WIP) and raw materials, utilizing ERP/MRP systems to ensure data accuracy and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted in strict compliance with industry-specific standards, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the pharmaceutical or food industries.
  • Participate actively in the planning and execution of new product introductions (NPI), ensuring a smooth and efficient transition from development to full-scale production.
  • Conduct regular process audits and safety inspections on the shop floor to proactively identify potential risks, non-compliance issues, and areas for immediate improvement.
  • Manage operational budgets for the assigned production area, carefully monitoring expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Foster a positive and proactive work environment that encourages employee engagement, open communication, and a shared commitment to achieving manufacturing excellence.

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and provide exploratory analysis to senior management regarding production trends and challenges.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma: Proven ability to apply principles like 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and DMAIC to drive process improvements.
  • ERP/MRP Systems: Hands-on proficiency with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms for production planning and control.
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS): Deep understanding of QMS frameworks like ISO 9001 and the use of quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-7 years of progressive experience within a manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Preferred: Experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting (e.g., automotive, consumer goods, electronics, or pharmaceuticals) with a demonstrated track record of leading continuous improvement projects and successfully managing production teams.
