Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain complex manufacturing equipment and machinery according to detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent production output.
  • Diligently execute production batch records and work orders with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all process steps and product specifications are met.
  • Perform critical in-process quality control checks, visual inspections, and measurements, promptly identifying and documenting any deviations from established quality parameters.
  • Act as a first responder to troubleshoot equipment and process-related issues in real-time, performing necessary adjustments and collaborating with maintenance for complex repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Meticulously document all production activities, including raw material consumption, process parameters, and batch outcomes, within our Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and/or paper-based logs.
  • Champion and enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to maintain a safe and compliant production environment.
  • Accurately prepare, weigh, and stage raw materials, components, and solutions required for the manufacturing process, verifying identity and quantity against the official batch record.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine cleaning, sanitization, and sterilization of manufacturing areas and equipment to maintain a controlled and audit-ready environment.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and process development teams to support the implementation, validation, and qualification of new equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen events, 5S projects, and lean manufacturing workshops, to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve safety.
  • Assist in the formal investigation of production deviations, non-conformances, and out-of-specification (OOS) results, contributing valuable insight to root cause analysis activities.
  • Train and mentor junior operators and new team members on established procedures, proper equipment operation, and critical safety guidelines to build team capability.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of critical production supplies and single-use components within the manufacturing suite, initiating replenishment orders to prevent stockouts.
  • Perform equipment setup, complex changeovers, and calibration verification activities to efficiently prepare production lines for different product campaigns.
  • Read and interpret complex technical documents, including Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), engineering drawings, and process flow diagrams, to execute tasks accurately.
  • Utilize enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP, to accurately transact material movements, confirm production orders, and track labor hours.
  • Properly package, label, and transfer finished goods or intermediate products to the next stage of production or to the warehouse, ensuring product integrity and traceability.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific manufacturing processes or equipment during internal, client, and regulatory audits.
  • Support process scale-up activities by executing engineering runs, collecting critical data, and providing feedback to translate laboratory procedures into robust, large-scale manufacturing operations.
  • Author and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and batch records to reflect current best practices and process improvements.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze in-process data to identify performance trends, support efforts to optimize process parameters, and report on key production metrics.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the maintenance team by performing basic preventative maintenance tasks and equipment checks.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance team with in-process sampling, environmental monitoring, and data gathering for formal investigations.
  • Participate in site-wide safety committees, behavioral-based safety observations, and emergency response drills.
  • Contribute to material qualification and validation projects by executing test protocols and collecting performance data.
