Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Meticulously receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments of raw materials, parts, and supplies, cross-referencing contents against purchase orders and packing lists to ensure complete accuracy.
- Promptly report and document any shipping discrepancies, such as shortages, overages, damages, or incorrect items, and initiate communication with procurement and vendors to resolve issues.
- Utilize inventory management software (ERP/WMS systems) to accurately record the receipt of all incoming goods, update stock levels, and maintain a real-time digital record of inventory.
- Systematically sort, label, and store materials in designated bins, racks, or other storage locations according to established organizational principles like FIFO (First-In, First-Out).
- Accurately pick, pull, and issue materials, components, and supplies from stock to fulfill internal work orders or production requests, ensuring correct part numbers and quantities.
- Prepare and assemble "kits" of components required for specific manufacturing or assembly jobs, verifying that all parts are present and accounted for before staging them for production.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in periodic full physical inventories to verify system data accuracy and investigate and reconcile any identified discrepancies.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to move stock and materials throughout the warehouse and production areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized storeroom, warehouse, and work area, adhering to company safety standards and 5S or similar organizational methodologies.
- Process and package materials for return to vendors (RTV), completing all necessary paperwork and coordinating with the shipping department for pickup.
- Monitor inventory levels for critical supplies and materials, and proactively communicate reorder needs to the purchasing department to prevent stockouts.
- Generate and review standard inventory reports, such as stock status reports, transaction histories, and discrepancy reports, to support inventory analysis.
- Handle and store materials, including sensitive electronics or hazardous chemicals, in accordance with specific handling procedures and regulatory compliance standards.
- Coordinate closely with production planners, supervisors, and shipping/receiving personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of materials through the facility.
- Assign part numbers to new items and ensure that all materials are properly identified with labels, tags, or barcodes for easy tracking and retrieval.
