Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Read, interpret, and follow mechanical drawings, assembly prints, schematics, BOMs (bill of materials), and torque charts to assemble mechanical subassemblies and finished products to engineering specifications and tolerances.
- Perform precision mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, rivet guns, presses, and bench fixtures to fasten, align, and secure components while consistently meeting cycle time and quality targets.
- Assemble and install shafts, bearings, seals, gears, motors, actuators, pneumatics and hydraulic components, ensuring correct orientation, fit, lubrication, and preload where required.
- Solder, crimp, and route electrical wiring harnesses and sensor leads where assemblies require electro-mechanical integration, following IPC and company wiring standards.
- Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, go/no-go gauges, and dial indicators to verify dimensions and confirm assemblies meet GD&T tolerance requirements before release to test or shipping.
- Set up and operate assembly jigs, fixtures, presses, and torqueing equipment; perform first-article inspections (FAI) and document setup parameters for repeatable builds.
- Execute in-process and final inspections following quality checklists, log inspection data, document nonconformances and produce NCRs (non-conformance reports) when items fall outside of specification.
- Troubleshoot mechanical fit, alignment, binding, and function issues on assemblies, identify root causes, apply corrective actions, and escalate complex problems to engineering.
- Perform functional testing of assembled units using hand-held test equipment, pneumatic/hydraulic test rigs, load/pressure tests and verify performance against acceptance criteria.
- Apply and verify application of thread lockers, sealants, lubricants and adhesives per work instructions and material safety data sheets (MSDS) to ensure long-term reliability of assemblies.
- Follow torque and tightening sequences accurately, logging torque values and calibration checks to maintain traceability and ensure product reliability under load.
- Maintain accurate assembly travelers, serial-number traceability, production records, and inspection documentation in paper or electronic MES/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Participate in kaizen and continuous improvement activities by suggesting process improvements, layout changes, and tooling modifications to reduce cycle time, defects, and ergonomics risk.
- Calibrate and perform basic preventive maintenance on assembly tools and test equipment, report tool failures, and coordinate with maintenance or calibration services to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hearing/eye protection rules and maintain a clean, organized work area consistent with 5S principles.
- Assemble to revision-controlled engineering changes (ECOs) and implement change instructions while maintaining up-to-date documentation and part number control.
- Rework and repair returned or nonconforming products per repair instructions, replace worn or damaged components, and document repairs to support warranty and quality reporting.
- Participate in training and certification programs (e.g., IPC-A-610, soldering certification, torque tool calibration) and mentor junior technicians on best practices and shop standards.
- Coordinate with purchasing and inventory teams to verify parts availability, perform kitting and basic inventory checks, and flag shortages that may impact production schedules.
- Perform final product packaging, labeling, and preparation for shipment according to packing lists, customer-specific instructions, and export compliance when applicable.
- Support engineering validation builds, prototype assembly and design verification runs by providing practical feedback on manufacturability and assembly sequence improvements.
- Collaborate with quality, production planning, and engineering to develop and update assembly work instructions, standardized operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
Secondary Functions
- Assist engineering with fixture design feedback, ergonomic assessments, and mock-ups for new product introductions to optimize assembly flow and fixturing.
- Support inventory control by performing cycle counts, returning obsolete parts, and participating in root cause analysis for recurring part shortages.
- Participate in cross-functional production meetings, provide production status updates, and escalate schedule or quality risks to supervisors.
- Document lessons learned and build process knowledge base to shorten onboarding time for new technicians and prevent recurrence of assembly issues.
- Assist with basic data entry into MES/ERP for timekeeping, production reporting, and tracking of first-pass yield and scrap metrics.
- Help maintain training matrices, complete required safety and skills certifications, and ensure workspace is audit-ready for internal and external reviews.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
