Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments to accurately identify client needs, presenting problems, and treatment recommendations using DSM-5 criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review client-centered, individualized treatment plans (ITPs) in collaboration with the client, outlining measurable goals and clinical interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy sessions utilizing therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Deliver immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation services for clients experiencing acute psychological distress, and formulate robust safety plans to ensure client well-being.
  • Maintain meticulous, timely, and confidential clinical documentation, including progress notes, intake assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, case managers, and nurses, to ensure coordinated and holistic client care.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups on topics such as emotional regulation, coping skills, relapse prevention, stress management, and mindfulness.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services, linking clients to essential community resources such as housing, vocational training, social services, and medical care.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for suicide, self-harm, and harm to others, implementing appropriate protocols and notifying relevant parties as mandated by law and ethical guidelines.
  • Act as a strong client advocate, helping them navigate complex healthcare, legal, and social service systems to ensure they receive the full spectrum of care they are entitled to.
  • Stay current with the latest clinical research, best practices, and advancements in the mental health field by actively participating in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Administer, score, and interpret a variety of clinical screening tools and psychological assessments to inform diagnosis and measure progress toward treatment goals.
  • Ensure all services are delivered with a high degree of cultural humility and competence, tailoring interventions to the unique cultural, social, and individual backgrounds of each client.

  • Uphold all legal and ethical standards of the profession, including strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, confidentiality, and mandated reporting requirements.
  • Participate actively in regular clinical supervision, peer consultations, and team case conference meetings to discuss complex cases and enhance clinical skills.
  • Develop and maintain a strong therapeutic rapport with a diverse range of clients, creating a safe, non-judgmental, and validating environment conducive to healing.
  • Prepare detailed clinical reports and summaries for insurance authorizations, court systems, and other external agencies as required for care coordination and compliance.
  • Provide consultation to family members, school personnel, and other collateral contacts (with client consent) to support the client's treatment goals in their natural environment.
  • Monitor client medication compliance and observed side effects, and collaborate with prescribing medical professionals to report on client symptoms and progress.
  • Assist clients in building social skills, communication skills, and a network of natural supports to promote long-term recovery and community integration.

Secondary Functions

  • Participate in peer review processes and quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of clinical care across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical programming, group curriculum, and psychoeducational materials.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to interns, practicum students, or newly licensed professionals joining the team.
  • Engage in community outreach events, health fairs, and educational workshops to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field of study.
  • Active state licensure or license-eligibility as an LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist.

Preferred Education:

  • Full, unrestricted clinical licensure in the state of practice.
  • Advanced certifications in specific therapeutic modalities (e.g., Certified DBT Professional, Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC), EMDR Certification).

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-7 years of post-graduate clinical experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working with specific populations (e.g., adolescents, veterans, co-occurring disorders, severe and persistent mental illness).
  • Experience in a similar setting (e.g., community mental health, outpatient clinic, hospital).
