Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on complex vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, and climate control, utilizing the Mercedes-Benz XENTRY/DAS diagnostic system to accurately identify faults.
- Execute a wide range of repairs from basic component replacement to intricate engine and transmission overhauls, adhering strictly to factory repair procedures and specifications.
- Conduct routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as Service A/B, oil and filter changes, fluid exchanges, and tire rotations, documenting all work meticulously.
- Diagnose and repair advanced electrical systems, including CAN bus, LIN bus, and MOST networks, to resolve complex electronic module and wiring issues.
- Calibrate and repair Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Distronic Plus, lane-keeping assist, and parking assist systems, using specialized tools and equipment.
- Address customer concerns by performing thorough vehicle road tests to verify complaints and confirm that repairs have been successfully completed.
- Complete detailed digital vehicle inspections, documenting findings with photos and videos to provide transparent recommendations to service advisors and customers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all technical service bulletins (TSBs), campaign updates, and new model features through continuous factory-provided training and self-study.
- Efficiently manage your workflow and time to meet and exceed flat-rate labor time standards while maintaining the highest quality of workmanship.
- Interface with the Mercedes-Benz technical assistance center to troubleshoot highly complex or unusual vehicle issues that require factory-level support.
- Perform intricate software updates, coding, and programming of vehicle control modules to resolve performance issues or enable new features.
- Diagnose and service high-voltage systems on Mercedes-Benz EQ (electric) and hybrid vehicles, following all safety protocols and certification requirements.
- Execute complex suspension and steering alignments on vehicles equipped with AIRMATIC and Active Body Control (ABC) systems.
- Repair and replace convertible top hydraulic and mechanical systems, ensuring proper function and weather sealing.
- Document all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each repair order with clear, concise, and accurate notes for warranty and dealership records.
- Use and maintain all dealership-provided tools and equipment responsibly, reporting any damage or need for calibration.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and the parts department to ensure clarity on repair needs, parts availability, and job status.
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentice technicians, sharing knowledge and promoting a collaborative team environment.
- Uphold all dealership and factory safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe vehicle lifting procedures.
- Participate actively in service department meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area, ensuring the service bay reflects the premium standards of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
- Assist in managing and maintaining the inventory of special tools and shop equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency with Mercedes-Benz proprietary diagnostic tools, specifically XENTRY Diagnosis and DAS (Diagnosis Assistance System).
- ASE Certifications (A1-A9), with Master Technician status being highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of modern automotive electrical systems, including CAN bus, networking, and module programming.
- Verifiable experience diagnosing and repairing European luxury vehicles; direct Mercedes-Benz experience is a significant asset.
- Expertise in servicing and repairing advanced gasoline and diesel engine systems, including turbocharging and direct injection.
- Competency in calibrating and diagnosing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
- High-Voltage certification for work on electric (EV) and hybrid vehicle systems (or willingness to become certified).
- Strong understanding of vehicle alignment theory and practical experience using modern alignment equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and electronic schematics.
- Experience with automotive air conditioning service and repair, including EPA 609 certification.
