Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Dive deep into historical sales data at the SKU, category, and store level to identify performance trends, uncover growth opportunities, and diagnose areas of underperformance.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance a suite of dynamic reports and dashboards using BI tools (like Tableau or Power BI) to provide the merchandising team with real-time visibility into key performance indicators.
- Conduct thorough post-mortem analysis on promotional events and marketing campaigns to measure their effectiveness, ROI, and impact on consumer purchasing behavior.
- Partner closely with Merchandise Planners and Buyers to build data-driven pre-season assortment plans and in-season forecasts for sales, margin, and inventory.
- Analyze markdown effectiveness and timing, providing strategic recommendations to optimize sell-through and protect gross margin without eroding brand value.
- Monitor and manage inventory health across all channels, identifying slow-moving stock and proposing liquidation strategies, transfers, or returns to vendors.
- Perform detailed competitive landscape analysis, tracking competitor pricing, promotions, and product assortments to ensure our market positioning remains sharp and informed.
- Utilize customer segmentation data to understand purchasing patterns and affinities, informing personalized marketing efforts and tailored product assortments.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives and presentations for senior leadership and cross-functional partners, influencing key business decisions.
- Own the weekly and monthly business review reporting process, providing insightful commentary on performance against budget, forecast, and prior year results.
- Analyze size-level selling data to refine buy quantities and optimize inventory allocation, ensuring high availability of core sizes.
- Evaluate the productivity of floor space and online shelf space, providing data-backed recommendations for product placement and category adjacencies.
- Develop sophisticated forecasting models to predict demand for new product launches and seasonal items, minimizing risks of overstocking or stockouts.
- Conduct market basket analysis to identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, informing product bundling strategies and promotional offers.
