Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Accurately weigh, measure, and verify raw materials and ingredients using industrial scales and meters, ensuring precise adherence to the formulas outlined in batch records.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor industrial mixing, blending, and compounding equipment, such as ribbon blenders, V-blenders, and tank mixers.
  • Meticulously follow detailed batch sheets, work orders, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure product consistency and traceability.
  • Load and introduce raw materials into vessels or mixers in the correct sequence, utilizing pumps, hoists, or manual transfer methods as required.
  • Monitor the mixing process closely, observing gauges, dials, and controls to regulate factors like temperature, pressure, mixing time, and speed.
  • Obtain in-process samples for the Quality Control lab at specified intervals, performing basic quality checks (e.g., viscosity, pH, color, texture) as trained.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including batch records, production logs, cleaning logs, and inventory adjustments, in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Safely handle a variety of materials, including liquids, powders, and chemicals, while adhering to all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Execute equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures between batches to prevent cross-contamination, following strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or other industry-specific protocols.
  • Perform routine operator-level maintenance on machinery, such as lubrication and minor adjustments, and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or abnormalities to maintenance or supervision.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and drum lifts, to transport raw materials and finished products within the production area.
  • Manage the inventory of raw materials at the workstation, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO) and communicating replenishment needs to the supply chain or warehouse team.
  • Ensure the final mixed product is correctly discharged and transferred to the appropriate holding tanks, drums, totes, or the next stage of the production process.
  • Troubleshoot common processing issues, such as ingredient clumping, improper mixing, or equipment blockages, and implement corrective actions within the scope of the role.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for enhancing safety, quality, and efficiency in the mixing process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the mixing area, adhering to 5S principles and all established safety policies.
  • Adhere to all environmental regulations regarding the handling and disposal of waste materials generated during the production and cleaning processes.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new or less-experienced operators on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and personnel from other departments like Quality, Maintenance, and Warehousing to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures on equipment before conducting any cleaning, maintenance, or service work to ensure personal and team safety.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting industrial mixers, blenders, pumps, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Batch Record Comprehension: Ability to read, interpret, and precisely follow complex formulas, batch sheets, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Measurement & Math Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate calculations, conversions, and measurements of weights and volumes.
  • Material Handling: Certified or experienced in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
  • GMP/Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant quality systems (e.g., HACCP, ISO).
