Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively manage, service, and strategically grow a dedicated book of affluent and high-net-worth clients by providing holistic, goals-based investment advice.
  • Travel extensively within a designated geographic territory to conduct in-person meetings with new and existing clients at their preferred locations, fostering deep, trust-based relationships.
  • Conduct comprehensive, in-depth reviews of clients' financial goals, risk tolerance, time horizons, and life circumstances to recommend and implement suitable investment strategies.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan to achieve and consistently exceed assigned sales, revenue, and asset growth targets.
  • Actively prospect and generate new client leads through diligent follow-up, client referrals, networking with centers of influence (like CPAs and attorneys), and community engagement.
  • Ensure all client interactions, investment recommendations, and transactions strictly adhere to all internal policies and external industry regulations (e.g., FINRA, SEC).
  • Partner closely with branch-based colleagues, such as Branch Managers and Premier Bankers, to identify and cultivate client referral opportunities, ensuring a seamless and integrated client experience.
  • Create, present, and implement comprehensive financial plans that address a wide range of client needs, including retirement planning, education funding, wealth transfer, and estate planning.
  • Maintain an expert-level understanding of current economic conditions, global market trends, and the firm's full spectrum of investment products, platforms, and services.
  • Educate clients on complex financial concepts, portfolio performance, and investment risks, empowering them to make well-informed decisions about their financial future.
  • Serve as the single, accountable point of contact for your clients' investment needs, delivering exceptional, high-touch service and conducting regular portfolio reviews.
  • Leverage CRM systems (like Salesforce) and financial planning software to meticulously track client activity, manage your sales pipeline, and generate detailed proposals and reports.
  • Actively participate in local business and community events to build your professional network, enhance the firm's brand presence, and source new business opportunities.
  • Work with clients to establish clear, quantifiable financial objectives, regularly tracking progress and making strategic adjustments to their investment plan as their lives evolve.
  • Perform sophisticated risk profile analyses for each client, ensuring that the proposed asset allocation and investment choices are perfectly aligned with their individual comfort for risk.
  • Guide new clients through the entire onboarding process, from account opening and asset transfers to the initial implementation of their investment strategy, ensuring a smooth and positive first impression.
  • Address and resolve complex client inquiries and issues with a sense of urgency and ownership, coordinating with internal support teams to guarantee client satisfaction.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise performance reports to clients, explaining portfolio returns, providing relevant market context, and reinforcing the rationale behind strategic decisions.
  • Consistently cultivate client loyalty to the point where they become advocates, proactively asking for and generating qualified referrals from your satisfied client base.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development by maintaining all required licenses (Series 7, 66, etc.) and pursuing advanced industry certifications such as the CFP® or ChFC®.

Secondary Functions

  • Participate actively in regional team meetings, conference calls, and training sessions to share best practices and stay updated on firm-wide initiatives.
  • Provide informal mentorship and expert guidance to licensed bankers and junior advisors within your local market to foster talent development.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of local client seminars and educational workshops on timely investment topics like market updates or retirement income strategies.
  • Collaborate with regional marketing teams to provide feedback on the effectiveness of client-facing materials and local promotional campaigns.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Investment Product Expertise: Deep knowledge across a wide range of investment vehicles, including mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, bonds, managed accounts, and annuities.
  • Financial Planning Acumen: Demonstrated ability to construct, present, and implement comprehensive, goals-based financial plans for affluent clients.
  • Portfolio Management Principles: Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, diversification, and risk management theory.
  • Business Development: A proven and verifiable track record of prospecting, lead generation, and successfully converting prospects into long-term clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of and strict adherence to securities industry regulations (FINRA/SEC) and a clean U4 record.
  • CRM Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system to manage client relationships and a sales pipeline.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:

  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master's in Finance

  • Finance, Economics, Business Administration

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 3-7 years of direct experience in a client-facing role requiring investment-based solutions, such as a Financial Advisor or licensed Personal Banker.

Preferred:

  • Active and in good standing FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) licenses are required.
  • State Life & Health insurance licenses are highly preferred.
  • Possession of, or active progress toward, a professional designation like Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢ (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), or similar is strongly valued.
