Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive mobile security patrols of multiple assigned properties via a company vehicle, serving as a significant deterrent to theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to alarm activations, thoroughly investigating the cause, securing the premises, and resetting alarm systems as necessary.
  • Perform detailed interior and exterior foot patrols at client sites, meticulously checking for security vulnerabilities such as unlocked doors, open windows, and signs of forced entry.
  • Execute scheduled lock-up and unlock services for commercial clients, ensuring facilities are secured or opened on time according to strict contractual requirements.
  • Author and submit clear, concise, and accurate digital reports for all activities, including daily activity logs, incident reports, and patrol verification scans, using handheld devices.
  • Act as the primary after-hours security presence, enforcing property rules and regulations, including parking enforcement and access control policies, with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Serve as a first responder in emergency situations, such as fires, medical incidents, or natural disasters, providing initial support and effectively coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Maintain constant communication with the central dispatch or command center, providing regular status updates, reporting suspicious activities, and requesting backup when needed.
  • Proactively identify and document safety hazards, maintenance issues, or property damage observed during patrols, such as malfunctioning lights, water leaks, or potential trip hazards.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by assisting clients, their employees, and the public with a professional and courteous demeanor, enhancing client relationships.
  • Safely operate and maintain the assigned patrol vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and company driving policies, and conduct pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement officials during incident response, providing them with critical information and assistance to support their investigations.
  • Monitor client properties for any unusual or suspicious activity, using keen observation skills to detect and report potential security threats before they escalate.
  • Conduct welfare checks on lone workers or at remote sites as directed by client protocols to ensure their safety and well-being.

Secondary Functions

  • Provide safety escorts for employees or tenants to and from their vehicles or through secure areas upon request.
  • Assist in the testing and verification of security systems, including alarms, access control panels, and CCTV cameras, to ensure full functionality.
  • Challenge and identify unauthorized individuals on client property, handling situations with tact and according to established de-escalation protocols.
  • Manage and respond to access requests from approved vendors or personnel after hours, verifying identity and documenting entry and exit times.
  • Utilize navigation and reporting software on company-issued technology (smartphones/tablets) to optimize patrol routes and ensure reporting efficiency.
  • Collect and preserve evidence in the event of an incident, protecting the scene until law enforcement arrives, and provide detailed testimony if required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and bearing at all times, as a representative of the company and its commitment to client security.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Patrol Vehicle Operation: Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a vehicle safely in various weather and traffic conditions.
  • Report Writing: Proficiency in writing clear, detailed, and grammatically correct incident reports and daily activity logs, often using digital reporting software.
  • Security Technology: Basic knowledge and ability to operate security equipment such as two-way radios, smartphones, CCTV systems, and electronic access control panels.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is often required or highly preferred to act as an effective first responder.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
