Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide direct leadership, supervision, and mentorship to a team of Mobile Patrol Officers, coordinating their daily activities to ensure optimal coverage and responsiveness across all assigned routes and client sites.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize weekly and monthly patrol schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels, accommodating time-off requests, and making real-time adjustments to cover call-offs or unexpected client needs.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for high-priority incidents, alarms, and emergencies, coordinating the on-scene response and ensuring all established protocols are followed with precision and speed.
  • Conduct regular and unannounced site inspections and field audits to verify officer performance, ensure post orders are being followed, and confirm the integrity of security measures at client locations.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for a portfolio of clients, building strong relationships, addressing concerns promptly, and conducting regular check-ins to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are being met and exceeded.
  • Thoroughly review all officer-submitted reports, including daily activity logs (DARs), incident reports, and patrol verification data, ensuring they are accurate, detailed, and professionally written before client or management submission.
  • Manage the vehicle fleet assigned to the patrol division, including scheduling routine maintenance, tracking mileage logs, conducting vehicle inspections, and ensuring all units are properly equipped and maintained.
  • Oversee the initial and ongoing training of Mobile Patrol Officers, focusing on patrol techniques, defensive driving, report writing, alarm response, and de-escalation skills.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and administer disciplinary action when necessary, maintaining clear and confidential documentation for all personnel actions.
  • Respond personally to client sites to handle complex situations, de-escalate conflicts, or provide supplementary support to officers during major incidents.
  • Ensure all officers maintain compliance with company policies, client-specific post orders, and all local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing and certification requirements.
  • Manage the distribution, tracking, and maintenance of all team equipment, such as radios, body cameras, keys, access cards, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate complaints from clients or the public regarding officer conduct or service failures, gathering facts and preparing detailed reports with recommended corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive summary reports for management that detail patrol activities, incident trends, team performance metrics, and vehicle statuses.
  • Proactively identify potential security risks or vulnerabilities at client properties during patrols and inspections, providing clients with professional recommendations for security enhancements.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist the operations manager in the development and revision of post orders and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new and existing clients.
  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding process for new Mobile Patrol Officers, including conducting interviews and leading orientation sessions.
  • Fill in for patrol officers on open shifts or during emergency shortages to ensure client service continuity is never compromised.
  • Collaborate with the dispatch or control room team to streamline communication and improve the efficiency of alarm response and officer dispatching.
  • Champion a culture of safety within the team, leading safety briefings and ensuring all officers adhere to safe driving practices and workplace safety protocols.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Valid State Security Officer License: Possess and maintain all required state-mandated security credentials (e.g., Guard Card).
  • Clean Driving Record: A valid driver's license and a driving history that meets company insurance standards are non-negotiable.
  • Security Reporting Software: Proficiency with industry-standard reporting and guard tour software (e.g., TrackTik, Silvertrac, OfficerReports).
  • GPS & Dispatch Systems: Skilled in using GPS navigation and two-way radio or digital dispatch communication systems effectively.
  • Alarm Response Protocols: In-depth knowledge of procedures for responding to various types of alarms (burglary, fire, panic).
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification: Current certification is highly desirable and often required.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the security industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory, lead officer, or field training capacity.

  • Prior experience specifically in a mobile patrol environment is strongly preferred. Experience in a leadership role within law enforcement or the military is a significant asset.
