Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Travel independently to patient residences, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other designated locations to perform blood collections.
Accurately and positively identify patients using a minimum of two identifiers (e.g., name and date of birth) prior to any procedure to ensure patient safety and sample accuracy.
Perform skillful venipunctures and capillary punctures on a diverse patient population, including geriatric, pediatric, and patients with difficult venous access.
Meticulously label all collected specimens at the time of collection with precise patient details, date, and time to prevent identification errors.
Follow the correct order of draw and utilize appropriate collection tubes and containers as specified by the laboratory test requisitions.
Demonstrate exceptional compassion and communication skills to explain procedures, alleviate patient anxiety, and ensure a positive and comfortable experience.
Strictly adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and proper hand hygiene.
Maintain the integrity and viability of all specimens from the point of collection to their delivery to the laboratory, managing temperature controls as required.
Safely operate a company-provided or personal vehicle to navigate a designated geographical area, optimizing routes for efficiency and punctuality.
