Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Team Leadership & Development: Directly supervise a team of molding technicians, process engineers, material handlers, and operators, managing scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions to foster a high-performance work environment.
- Production Schedule Attainment: Drive the execution of the daily production schedule, ensuring all molding machines are operating efficiently to meet output targets, order deadlines, and customer requirements.
- Process Optimization & Control: Champion the use of scientific and decoupled molding principles to troubleshoot, optimize, and stabilize injection molding processes, aiming to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and enhance part quality.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Uphold stringent quality standards by ensuring all personnel adhere to work instructions, quality inspection procedures, and documentation requirements; actively participate in root cause analysis for any quality deviations.
- Safety & Environmental Stewardship: Enforce all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to maintain a zero-incident workplace and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Mold Change & Setup Efficiency: Oversee and coordinate all mold changeovers and machine startups, focusing on minimizing downtime through Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) techniques and ensuring first-piece approval procedures are meticulously followed.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Serve as the first line of defense and primary technical expert for resolving complex processing issues, equipment malfunctions, and quality concerns on the production floor.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report on key departmental metrics (e.g., efficiency, scrap rates, downtime, labor variance) to plant management, identifying trends and developing actionable improvement plans.
- Staff Training & Skill Enhancement: Identify skill gaps within the team and develop or facilitate training programs for molding processes, machine operation, safety procedures, and quality checks to ensure a highly competent workforce.
- Equipment & Tooling Management: Collaborate with the maintenance and tooling departments to schedule preventative maintenance, communicate repair needs, and ensure the proper care and handling of all molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Resource Management & Allocation: Effectively manage labor, materials, and equipment resources across the shift to maximize productivity and adapt to changing production demands or unforeseen challenges.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and timely completion of all production-related documentation, including setup sheets, process logs, production reports, and quality records, maintaining data integrity within the ERP/MES system.

Required Skills & Competencies
