Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Conduct dynamic classroom instruction based on the approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) or equivalent curriculum, covering topics like risk management, street strategies, and motorcycle operation.
Clearly demonstrate fundamental and advanced riding exercises and techniques on the training range to provide a visual model for students.
Provide consistent, constructive, and timely one-on-one feedback to students, helping them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
Establish and maintain a safe, controlled, and positive learning environment on the riding range at all times, prioritizing student and instructor well-being above all else.
Perform thorough pre-ride safety inspections (T-CLOCS) on all training motorcycles before each session and report any mechanical issues.
Diligently manage individual student progress, adapting coaching techniques and communication styles to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Administer both written knowledge tests and practical on-cycle skills evaluations to accurately assess student proficiency and course comprehension.
Maintain accurate and timely administrative records, including student rosters, course completion paperwork, incident reports, and state-required documentation.
Efficiently and accurately set up, manage, and break down the riding range according to precise curriculum diagrams and specifications.
Effectively operate and troubleshoot classroom audio/visual equipment, including projectors and sound systems, to deliver engaging presentations.
Communicate complex concepts with clarity, patience, and empathy to students from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, and experience levels.
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism in conduct and appearance, acting as a positive role model and ambassador for the sport of safe motorcycling.
Handle minor on-the-spot motorcycle maintenance and troubleshooting, such as adjusting controls or addressing minor mechanical faults to minimize class disruption.
Report any incidents, accidents, "near-misses," or significant equipment failures to the site manager immediately and in accordance with established protocols.
Ensure all students are equipped with and correctly using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before and during any on-cycle activity.
Skillfully manage classroom and range dynamics to foster a positive, non-intimidating, and highly interactive learning atmosphere for adult learners.
Stay current with all state and national certification requirements, attend mandatory update seminars, and engage in continuous professional development.
Adhere strictly to the RiderCoach Code of Ethics and all established program policies, procedures, and safety guidelines without deviation.
Effectively manage class time to ensure all curriculum objectives, learning activities, and administrative tasks are completed within the scheduled course hours.
Observe student behavior and riding execution with a keen eye to anticipate and proactively mitigate potential risks before they escalate.
Facilitate engaging group discussions that encourage critical thinking and sharing of experiences related to risk assessment and real-world road strategies.

Secondary Functions

Assist in compiling and analyzing student performance data and course feedback for continuous program improvement.
Provide input on the evolution of training curriculum and contribute to the overall rider education strategy.
Liaise with dealership staff, administrative personnel, and management to ensure a seamless and positive student experience from registration to graduation.
Actively participate in instructor meetings, pre-season planning sessions, and professional development workshops to maintain and enhance instructional skills.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Current MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) RiderCoach Certification or equivalent state-approved instructor certification.
A valid state-issued driver's license with a full and unrestricted motorcycle endorsement.
A clean driving record for the past 3-5 years, with no major citations or at-fault accidents.
Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification is highly preferred.
Proficiency in operating a wide variety of motorcycle types and sizes (cruiser, standard, sport).
Fundamental motorcycle maintenance and mechanical aptitude for pre-ride inspections and minor adjustments.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

A minimum of 5 years of recent, varied, and extensive on-street motorcycle riding experience is required. Must be an active and proficient rider.

Preferred:

Customer-facing experience in a service-oriented industry is a significant plus.
