Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Oversee the entire music production lifecycle, from initial concept and pre-production planning to final mixing and mastering, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality final product.
- Collaborate closely with artists and songwriters to develop their unique sound, refine song structures, and translate their creative vision into a tangible sonic reality.
- Direct and guide artists during recording sessions, providing vocal coaching and performance feedback to capture the most compelling and emotionally resonant takes.
- Arrange, compose, and program musical elements, including instrumental parts, drum patterns, and synthesized textures, to build the full sonic architecture of a track.
- Operate advanced Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and Ableton Live with expert proficiency for recording, editing, and mixing.
- Manage all technical aspects of a recording session, including microphone selection and placement, signal flow, and gain staging to ensure pristine audio quality.
- Select, hire, and manage session musicians, orchestrators, and programmers, providing clear direction to ensure their contributions align with the project's goals.
- Perform detailed audio editing, including comping vocal and instrumental takes, timing correction (quantization), and pitch correction using tools like Melodyne or Auto-Tune.
- Execute professional-level mixing, balancing levels, EQ, compression, and spatial effects to create a dynamic, clear, and impactful mix that serves the song.
- Prepare and deliver final masters that meet the technical specifications for all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) and physical formats (vinyl, CD).
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and studio resource allocation to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within financial constraints.
- Stay at the forefront of contemporary music trends, emerging production techniques, and new audio technologies to keep our sound fresh and competitive.
- Act as the primary liaison between the artist, record label A&R, management, and marketing teams to ensure clear communication and alignment on project direction.
- Curate and manage a library of sounds, samples, and virtual instruments, constantly sourcing new tools to expand the creative palette.
- Develop and produce remixes, radio edits, and alternative versions of tracks as required for promotional campaigns and special releases.
- Maintain meticulous organization of all project files, session data, and track versions, ensuring proper archiving and asset management.
- Provide expert guidance on musical theory, harmony, and chord progressions to enhance the songwriting and arrangement process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with studio hardware and software to minimize downtime and maintain a smooth workflow during sessions.
- Build and maintain a strong professional network of artists, engineers, songwriters, and other industry professionals to foster collaboration opportunities.
- Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on demos submitted by new and developing artists, identifying potential for future projects.
